Finding my marbles [Treasure hunt]

It was weird that something had caught her attention so quickly that had nothing to do with battling. However, Ramona really wanted to find out the correlation between the all the mystery marbles. Surely they were somewhat valuable for them to have been buried in the same place as ancient relics, right? And then there was that symbol in the middle of that rainbow-colored marble. What did that sigil mean, exactly?

Not even the sources online had any light to shed, as others who claimed to have it had the same questions as she. So all she could do at the moment was collect as many of those marbles as she could and hope she could find something out about them that way. That was why she was, again, in the Badlands.

“Alright, you three,” she addressed the trio of Pokemon before her, “try to find at least one of those marbles before we have to head back, alright? If you find anything that isn’t one, feel free to do whatever with it.” The three Pokemon – a Larvitar, a Gabite, and a Gabite-shaped Ditto- all nodded in affirmation, and promptly began digging into the soft sand.

While the Pokemon dug, Ramona had a chance to go introspective and truly think about the situation at hand. Taking off her calf-length boots, the trainer left them in the sand and began to meander through the sandy area of the Badlands, a location so very similar to her own region’s Route 111. She’d begun having those dreams again; she couldn’t remember them, but she had started to wake up in the early hours in a cold sweat, panting heavily. It was, honestly, beginning to take a toll on her health, and it was worrying her Pokemon.

“Fuck,” she muttered under her breath, running a hand through her hair and nervously playing with her bangs. If the nightmares were coming back, that meant Darkrai had come back to haunt her. That wasn’t good, not in the slightest. What could she do, go back to Sinnoh to research more? She sighed, letting her shoulders slump. For the first time in a long while, Ramona Albarn felt lost.

Suddenly, she felt a soft nudging at her side. Looking down, she was surprised to see Groove walking alongside her, its fins holding a small object that she couldn’t quite identify. “What’s that you got there?” she asked, her usually cheerful voice noticeably lacking. The Gabite simply nudged her arm in response, whining a bit out of concern.

A small chuckle. “Thanks for worrying about me, Groove, but I’ll be fine,” she reassured the Dragon-type, holding out her hand. “Now, what’s that thing you wanna show me? Groove craned its arm-fins and dropped the object into her hand. Raising the hand up to her face, Ramona inspected the object.

“Great find, Groove! Ramona smiled, patting the Gabite’s head affectionately. The Cave Shark seemed to purr in happiness as it nuzzled into the trainer’s hand (odd, for a shark Pokemon). Leave it to a Gabite to find the best stuff. “Let’s head back. I’m feeling a bit exhausted.”

She needed to think. Well, at least that convention was happening tomorrow to take her mind off of those nightmares.
