Quinn had just did something that she never thought she'd do in a million years, she started her journey in Sinnoh and actually decided not to be lazy and sit on her butt. It had been two years since she moved to Sinnoh and she never thought it necessary to go and start anything. She had two pokemon that she saved and she was content with her idleness. Often she complained to herself about the idleness but until today, she didn't have the time or motivation to make a change.
It might have been the pokemon she had motivating her, or it may just be a change of attitude... But today, she decided to go onto her first town and find pokemon. The Fuego Ironworks was the perfect place to start, she had a Houndour and a Pawniard, a fire and steel type which the ironworks were bustling of.
Another change occurred today... On her side was Roon, a mute Houndour who looked up at Quinn and ready to stir fire in her body if ever she needed to protect Quinn. The Houndour wasn't used to this either as she often had her pokemon in their pokeballs, but she thought that Roon would enjoy the redness of the ironworks so she had it on her side. Babe, her Pawniard was still in his pokeball so it wasn't a full change but Roon felt awkward standing alone also. She looked around and was ready to strike anything at sight because she felt a protective instinct being out of her pokeball. But neither Quinn nor Roon had battled before, so it would be interesting to see how they do today.
The two looked on, ready to see what the ironworks had to offer. Change was being made, and that excited the civilian. She never thought she'd actually do something about her problems, but today she was...
Humans. They were only here for one purpose and one purpose only, that was to battle pokemon, weaken them, and entrap them in a ball. That was the thought that came into the Glameow's head at least when she ran into the trainer and her pokemon venturing in the iron work looking for something. It angered her to see the trainer and the pokemon there, why would they come into her home and disturb her like that? Why would they wish to pick a fight with her? She resented trainers so much because they were usually here for two reasons only...
One, to capture pokemon. Two, to train their own pokemon. And she usually got the short stick also as she was neither fire nor steel, the two types that people usually came here for. She enjoyed the peace and tranquility for a period when the trainers were nowhere in sight, but soon they all made a comeback. An old veteran she was, she remembered the old days before the trainers came back. The days that the iron work was abandoned and she and her other friends could just roam the island with no care in the world. Oh those days had long gone and passed and now she had to deal with the disaster that remained, when the pokemon were baits for trainers. She saw the two and just snared at them, she would not accept their image and would not let them tarnish her at all. She sharpened her claws and quickly ran after the Houndour, trying to strike her on her head quickly so that she could not move and would be immobilized.

The attack hit and Roon did not know what to do at that moment. She was struck and had tears in her eyes, unable to respond to the onslaught as her body tensed up and she was unable to move at that moment. She looked at Quinn for help but the trainer was put in a dumbfound, with worry in her eyes as she had not even seen the Glameow come and did not know how to react to such an attack. She tried to open her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
Quinn wasn't the mute one here, but she was at a lost for words. Where did the Glameow come from? Why did it attack them? What could she do about it? She looked on, unable to figure out what her next step would be as she stood her ground, not knowing what to do. Pokemon were to be taken care of and treated well, not to be battled with. Why did the Glameow strike her in the first place? What did it have against Roon? Would she be next? She looked lost, not knowing how to react when the Glameow then shifted her attention towards her. Slowly walking towards the redhead.
Pokedex Name: Hondour ALIAS: Roon GENDER: Female ABILITY: Flash Fire MOVE SET: Flamethrower | Faint Attack | Howl | Roar PERSONALITY: Loner, Protective over Quinn, Mute Hit by Fake Out. Flinched
The beginning caught them off guard, Roon was struck with the fake out which made her flinch and wince in pain as she did not know why she was being attacked and did not know what to do next. The Glameow also began to walk slowly and menacingly towards her trainer which really made her bubbles boil a bit. She was protective over Quinn, seeing how the trainer saved her from her harsh lifestyle at first, when she was young and abandoned, possibly going to die if Quinn wasn't there. She had vowed to protect her trainer since then and would not allow the Glameow to harm her at that moment.
The problem was, she didn't know much about battling, so what exactly could she do against the Glameow? She ran forward, her predatory and animal instincts taking charge as she jumped in between the two and chose to take action herself. But what would a pokemon do when she had no experience battling? She opened her mouth, ready to attack but did not know any moves. She didn't have bite so she couldn't do that. She had no voice (being mute) so she couldn't use roar at that moment. She didn't know how to control the fire in her body yet so flamethrower was out of the picture. She held her ground, just getting attacked at that point as the Glameow scratched her up with a powerful slash. Her body toppling over as she fell on her side, not being able to retaliate at that moment. She was in a lot of pain from the move but her instincts were still there, protect Quinn at all cost.

The Glameow walked quietly towards Quinn, sharpening her claws when the Houndour jumped in front ready to protect her trainer. She did not expect it but it also did not bother her. Whether it be the Houndour or Quinn, she was ready to attack. She open her paws and slashed the Houndour on its side, bringing some blood out of the body of the pokemon as she smirked, feeling superior as she was getting her attacks across. This battle would be easier than she had expected and she started to feel very proud of herself.
Normally, she had witnessed her friends and colleagues getting beaten up by trainers, never were they the ones in the aggressive side. Yet here she was, not only winning the battle but winning by a landslide. The poor Houndour couldn't attack back, and she just accepted every bit of it. She walked towards it again, opening her paws as she wanted to strike once more, oh a few more hits and it would faint. Then she could turn her attention to the trainer and take her out.

Quinn was shocked at what was going on. Here her pokemon was, being courageous and protecting her at all cost. But she was also getting beaten up at the same time, bleeding while she was struck. The Glameow had shifted its attention towards her for a moment before she turned back at the Houndour. She didn't know how to deal with the situation as she did not want the pokemon to attack her, but she also could not bear watching her pokemon get hurt. She had to take a stance though so she took out her pokeball ready to return Roon, as she could not bother watching her suffer. She would just suffer the beating and protect her pokemon.
But when she opened the pokeball, ready to return Roon... Something weird happened. She was not ready to go in and the red light bounced back to the ball, she could not be returned like that yet. She wasn't ready. Quinn looked on, worried and surprised at the same time. This never happened before, and she already regretted having a pokemon out of its pokeball.
Nothing was going their way at first, the Glameow was beating Roon up and had sustained no damage so far. Quinn did not even know how to deal with the Glameow at all either, she had no experience battling and she had no item to show her what she could and could not use. She didn't have a pokedex in her arsenal so it did not help that she was such a noob when it came to battling and pokemon. She was stunned, her pokemon not returning to her pokeball either as Roon stood guard against the Glameow.
The pokemon was a canine, and she had a feeling of what a canine could do. They were known for their bark and bite but she had never heard it move a sound at all. She considered and tried to do something, but the first thought that came to mind did not work. "Bite" She said, but the Houndour gave her a confused look, she did not know such an attack so she could not respond. She also had a burning feeling inside her but she did not understand why that was the case. The glameow came at her, ready to strike again with her paws sharpened once more, but this time she shot out a fireball at it. "Woah!" Quinn said, shocked as she had no idea that it was a fire pokemon. It also caught the Houndour off guard but she also stopped having that burning feeling at that time. She knew one thing she could do and it would be very helpful.
This was going so easy for her and yet she was not satisfied yet. She wanted to attack more, she wanted to get more blood, she was out for pain and she was about to get that. She walked forth slowly to delay the attack, trying to bring fear into her opponent. But as she got close, a fireball caught her paw and gave her a stinging sensation. >OUCH!< She said! Caught off guard and unable to react since she didn't even know that the pokemon could attack. She didn't know what to do then, too stunned to attack at that moment. She was dumbstruck, held her ground, looked at the traienr and pokemon and wondered if she should run or stay and fight. She was too haughty to give up, but the burn... It hurt so bad.

In that first time, the Glameow did not know what she would do next. She was just attacked by the Houndour so a battle had just ensued. This meant she would get hurt even more if she decided to go after the canine and her trainer. She could back down now and suffer no more damage, but she also did not know if she could live with herself or sleep at night if she did not attack. She thought for a second, but her body made the decision easy. It moved closer to the trainer and pokemon, not willing to give up so easily as her claws sharpened again and she got ready for another slash at the Houndour. She gave off a loud growl to distract the pokemon before she rushed forth and aimed her claws at it, hoping to slash it again and get blood once more. Her attack landed and the Houndour fell on her side, stunned and unable to move at that moment.
Quinn was at a lost for words too, she didn't know how she should best deal with it. She saw the Houndour use a fireball attack which was pretty effective, but it didn't finish the opponent off and now she was taking more damage. Quinn wanted to return her pokemon but it refused before, so she knew it wouldn't be different now. She was between a rock and a hard place and did not know what to do either. But her body made the decision also as her feet began to lift and she started running towards the two, trying to get in between. But before she could, she was stopped in her tracks. Her legs tightened and she was stationed on the ground.
Roon used another attack. Playing dead, she rushed forth and took a bite off the side of the Glameow. The attack landed and also gave her some nice for another attack. This time, she generated a larger fire ball and sent it at the pokemon, trying to damage it more as she herself was very badly hurt. She would not give up on this battle yet, the goal was to win and that she would do.

Oh the finish line was so soon that the Glameow could feel and taste the blood dripping from the body of the Houndour. One or two more attacks and it would likely fall down, then she could turn her attention to the trainer and finally put an end to this battle for good. She started to walk towards the pokemon slowly and meticulously, drawing the play out like a predator so she could instill fear in the hound before she finished him off. Her paws were sharpened, her eyes gleaming, she looked like a real terror as she ambled towards her prey for one final attack. She loved it, she could feel the fire and excitement in her body as she wanted this final attack to come soon so that the battle would be over. One... Two... Three... Four... Five... She was counting down until the final move and as she approached, the battle seemed even easier now than ever. The Houndour tensed up and the trainer was stopped in her tracks, this seemed to be a piece of cake as she raised her paw and aimed a strike at the Hound to finish it off.
But the strike failed, Roon was able to read this attack perfectly, having witnessed it three times already, and she quickly ducked to the side, avoiding the attack and giving herself time to counter. But what exactly could the fire hound do after suffering so much from the feline? She could attack again but she probably wouldn't make it another round. She could try to run, but the feline would probably just chase after her and catch her. She kind of wished she did not refuse the pokeball now, and chose to return when she had the chance so she wouldn't suffer anymore. And even worst, after she dodged, her body tensed again and she fell on her side, her back facing the Glameow like a helpless pup.
She opened her mouth, trying to roar or howl but neither came out. She brought her body into a fetal position, just wishing it to be over soon as she was growing very weary and tired at that moment. Tears dripped from her eyes as she regretted the battle and regretted not being able to protect her trainer. She tried to yelp but nothing came out. She just stood there, helpless as the Glameow came closer once more, having realized that she missed the first time.
She was in shock, how did the Houndour dodge? It didn't have the energy to do so, she could see it in the pokemon. Yet it somehow did. But no matter, she shrugged it off as she raised a paw again, ready to strike. She aimed it at the back of the Houndour, hoping to go so far that it'd reach the head of the hound and kill it. But before she could, she met face to face with Roon.
Roon turned over at the last second, opened her mouth, and let out a most ferocious roar ever. It was terrifying, amplified by the fact that she was mute and no sound came out of her mouth. Her eyes just burned with fire and her mouth yelled. Fire could be seen from within as it took everything she had to get this out, no sound but yet the sight was enough to terrify anything and anyone.
The Glameow suddenly had a change of heart after seeing that, terror filling her eyes and her body tensing for a second. She was haughty, arrogant, and not the type to give up. But after witnessing that, she had no choice but to run. She turned around and ran away from the two, and at that moment Roon fell on the ground and fell asleep also, the battling taking its toll on her.
Quinn was very happy with what her pokemon was able to accomplish. It was her first ever "battle" and also possibly Roon's first ever battle, as she had the Hound in such a young age, that it'd be a surprise if she had battled beforehand. She still didn't like the concept of a battle, but she did respect what she saw there. She returned her Houndour to her pokeball and then decided to take shelter on the ground near the walls of a broken down house. The battle exhausted her and her pokemon. And now she was just ready and excited for the peace that came.

"Do you think there's any?" Stellar murmured, looking around and wondering her goal is going to be fruitful or not. Beside her, her Ninetales, Sae, padded softly by her side, letting out a soft coo.
It was worth a try, really. Stellar's just going around and around when she heard of this abandoned iron works factory. So she had this brilliant idea to come and see if she can scavenge any....iron.
Not Pokemon, just iron.
"Okay, Sae, take a look at that side," Stellar said, only to get a disapproving coo from her Ninetales. The trainer chuckled. "It's okay, just take a sniff and be back, it won't even take a few minutes." Stellar's smile turn softer. "Besides, I have Aria, and everyone else, so I'll be fine."
The last sentence sounded like even Stellar's trying to convince herself.
It's a bit vulnerable, but it's definitely a faster way for them to find any abandoned iron. Stellar wants some to treat Aria more, after all, and she should really get used to the peace this region has to offer. She's been paranoid for far too long.
Sae left her trainer's side reluctantly, the shiny Ninetales walking quickly to one side, sniffing and trying to find a spare iron or two. Anything, so she can get back to Stellar's side faster.
The Ninetales sniffed and sniffed, before heading over to the back of a broken house, her ears perking up at a sudden sound.
Someone?
They are not going to harm Stellar, if she can help it!
"NIIIIIIINE!" Saedea leapt at the sound, attacking first without seeing the trainer and Houndour's exhaustion, tackling into whoever's nearest.
Notes
So yeah, paranoid Shiny Ninetales tackling Quinn and Roon.
Their first battle had taken so much out of both Quinn and Roon that the girl was happy to have peace and quiet after all for the time being. The Houndour was already back in her pokeball, resting in a comfortable place while the girl was sitting up on the wall, with her eyes closed and her head against the house. For a first day, it was pretty successful. She learned more about her pokemon, she learned about the wild pokemon of Sinnoh, and she learned something about herself also. It was also very exhausting, and she began to find herself in a quick slumber, only to be rudely interrupted when she was slammed against the house by the Ninetales, causing the wall to crumble in its place. She body already aching from the previous battle, when she wasn't even attacked, now was in great pain after the attack.
A big black bruise went on her side also as she fell on the ground, her head hitting a rock and blood dripping from it. Was this the end of her meaningless existence? She looked up at the Ninetales, the image becoming blurrier and blurrier. And then, darkness. She had fainted from the attack...
The Ninetales look nervously at the damage she have caused, horror etched on the Pokemon's features. This is what happens when she's raised from egg to teen-adult in war, all her life, she expected the worse. That's the only way to survive, to overpower your opponent one step ahead, or run away.
And Sae is extremely adept at both.
"Nine. Nine. NIIIIINE." the Ninetales panicked, moving from side to side. Sure, she killed before, that's a given. But she didn't kill meaninglessly before, such as killing a person who couldn't even fight back.
And the girl's not moving.
Oh no.
"What's wrong, Sae?" Stellar called out, running over in panic. It was easy for her to spot the panicky body language of the child Pokemon she raised from birth, after all.
"Oh dear."
And that was there and then, that Stellar choose to nurse the young woman, bandages and first aid in her bag, necessary since she's a traveller. Beside her, Sae told Stellar the whole story by coos and sad sounds and general body movements and yes, Stellar understood that. No, she doesn't blame the Ninetales; Stellar firmly told Sae that it is not her fault, that there was no way of her knowing this could happen.
That the Ninetales was only looking out for Stellar, and if their situation had been reversed, Stellar would have done the same, albeit with different equipments.
The woman patted the girl's head, now bandaged and blood wiped clean. Now to wait for her to wake up.
Notes
And yep, Quinn is waking up to the worried looks of Stellar and the ghostly Ninetales.
She felt a rush of the attack strike her, she saw her vision begin to dimmer, and then she saw blackness. It felt like an eternity that she was out, and the frigidness of the eternity wasn't pleasant either. She had no vision, no warmth, and felt completely alone. She looked around but was unable to cut the darkness at all, it was thick and consumed her. Quinn realized what was happening, this was her hell and she would have to live her life in it. She guessed that she really had no purpose in life, no worth at all and she would just die here alone. The idea even warmed up to her a bit as she accepted her fate, realized that her life sucked when she was alive, so now that she was dead it could not suck any less. She was living in hell anyways, so this could only be purgatory. Life couldn't have been worst.
But then she felt a touch on her forehead. It was damp and felt heavy before it disappeared. Then another touch. And another touch. Soon, the weight began to lessen and lessen and lessen and her darkness started to clear out also. Warmth returned and she felt an ability to open her eyes a bit. She looked around, wondering where she was but it was still a blur. All she saw was a pair of red strands. She hadn't noticed the pokemon yet as she opened her eyes to see the crimson eyes of Stellar. She was in a stupor, unable to open her mouth or mutter any words as she stood there, still a bit shaken up. Now with a massive headache too.
In the meantime, an Abra saw what had transpired and chose to take actions into his own hands. He quickly brought himself next to the Ninetales, having witnessed the attack it brought on the trainer and attempted to teleport it away, so that it could no longer harm Quinn while she was in such a helpless position.
He considered himself as the policeman of the town, one who would bring safety and security to the inhabitants, whether they be human or pokemon. Seeing the attack, he thought the Ninetales to be one who tried to disturb this order, and thus tried to take action into his own hands. Problem was, the amount of energy it'd take for such an attack would wipe out a lot of his energy. And it wouldn't even be clear if he could take such a large and powerful pokemon with him...

It's already bad enough that Sae's nerves are frayed after what just happened. Sure, she can handle worse, but that doesn't mean she can't stress out, can't she?
The Ninetales fidgeted, watching Stellar treat the other girl. Just when, when will she wake up? Sae will apologize, then, for thinking her as an enemy. The Ninetales begin to run through scenarios on how to make it up to the girl, when randomly, an Abra appeared beside him.
And then, there was that surge of power...
"NIIIIINE!"
With a sharp yowl, Sae smacked all her tails to the Abra, throwing him away to a good distance.
"Sae!" Stellar's eyes narrowed at the random wild Pokemon, and she clutched on to Quinn tighter, just in case. Tight enough to snap Quinn into a clearer mindset, even if Stellar didn't know Quinn had slowly woke up before.
The Ninetales, on the other hand, required no commands, being well trained enough, or more like, the dependency on commands during war time could be potentially fatal, and during those time, Stellar's Pokemon developed their individual fighting styles.
The Ninetales barked at the Abra, warning it away. The Abra didn't seem to hear her, for one reason or another, and tried to move forward, so Sae took a deep breath and shot a weak Flamethrower at it, meant only to shoo it from coming any further, but to inexperienced trainers, this look like a normal, devastating flamethrower....
She began to see clearer now, the crimson eyes were actually pink and the red hair was actually brown. The sky stopped spinning so much also as she looked up and saw a ghoulish pokemon near her too, the size and strength matching the one that struck her unexpectedly. She began to wince and tighten up, thinking the trainer and pokemon were off to harm her again, when suddenly, the pokemon gave off a terrible shriek once more. This time, not directed at her but at something else, the target was too small for her to see at that time. It was too blurry for her as her eyes hadn't completely regained focus. And panic suddenly ensued as she started to kick and scream when Stellar tried to hold her, shrieking and fearful as to what they were planning. She heard the screams before she was attacked and almost dead. Now the screams came again and a fireball came after the small pokemon, incinerating it.
She looked up at the two, tears in her eyes as she opened her mouth and gave a small mutter. "Why? Why? You killed him and he didn't do anything." She said, angrily as she had no knowledge of pokemon at all. She didn't understand pokemon battle or tactics. She just thought they were being bullies and culprits, attacking harmless people and pokemon to get their ways.
The Abra though did not die from the attack. It was a rather weak one as opposed to what the Ninetales could actually use, and so he took the brunt and was still standing after. His energy dissipating quickly though as he had lost a lot from trying to take the Ninetales down with him, and now even more from the attack. Still, he was standing and not ready to give up just yet. He looked over at the squirmish girl now, thinking she was in trouble, and decided that he had to try again. He rushed forth, tried to teleport once more to get close to the Ninetales, but with so little energy it did not become plausible. Instead, he tripped and fell on his side, very hurt from the encounter so far.
His vision blurring and a headache arising, he was not going to give up yet. >Leave her alone!< He said to the Ninetales with his last muttering words, he wouldn't just let them hurt an innocent bystander like that.

So I was thinking, since Quinn knows nothing about pokemon... Stellar could teach her somethings. And maybe even convince her to catch the Abra, and teach her how to catch a pokemon. She doesn't really have much experience there either. She knows to throw a pokeball, but besides that nothing else.
She saw a sudden movement from the Abra, so she knew that the pokemon had not died, which made her happy for a second because she knew the pokemon was only there to protect her. But on the other hand, she also began to get more worried about the situation too. What exactly was the Ninetales planning then? What was the goal of the trainer also? She did not understand why pokemon battled with one another, not realizing that it brought joy to them and made them stronger, instead she just saw it more as violence and abuse. But then again, seeing the Abra walk towards the Ninetales, she started to reconsider things a bit. Especially after she saw the smirk.
The Abra was toppling over, very hurt from the attacks he had sustained but he was still able to give the Ninetales a smirk. He was getting beaten up but he was also happy at the same time, impressed that he was able to survive such a disastrous attack and still stand. He looked at the Ninetales, his mind shuffling all over the place as he egged the pokemon on. >What else can you do? You are not as tough as you think you are!< He said with a smirk, before he tried to teleport once more above the Ninetales to take it down. He was too weak though, as his teleport only brought him right in front of the Ninetales before he fell. Still, he was happy and not going to regret anything he had just done.
And in that moment, Quinn had a revelation. She looked up at Stellar and asked the question that had been bugging her this entire time. "Why do pokemon battle with one another? Is it something that they enjoy? The Abra is getting beaten up, but it is still smiling. Why is that?" She asked to the trainer. This could be a revelation moment for her.
