In the middle of the sandstorm, there stood a woman.
Stellar has a blindfold on her eyes, both as a protection from the sand and meant as a handicap for the training she wants to do. In her hand is a strong branch, one that she had picked up sometime early the month she chose to stay here. Strong enough to hold on to her training, and this is what she's using to mimic her dagger, yet not injuring people.
Her usual Protect-sandstorm-desert-traveling combo is down, her male Archeops soaring in the skies above. They are her opponents, so are other fof her own team which she had released into the sands to hide, a kind of hide and seek, if you will. For now, though, it's two on two, Sam and Lily her opponent, the others resting at the small tunnel-cave that Aria had made, the one that served as their living place for the last month.
For a while, there was no sound, only the whipping sands against her skin, her face, but these sensation is comforting instead of terrifying, and she have dwelled in the desert over the years long enough to be familiar with it, to make it home.
But her Pokemon got the same advantage, too. The team she had brought here were the ones that had followed her since forever, and they have the same affinity as she does.
A sound, amongst the hot wind and sharp sands.
Stellar brandished her branch upwards, just in time for a Lily's tail to slam against it, the Ampharos jumping backward with a dissatisfied grunt. The sound had been slight enough for people to miss it in general, especially in these blistering storms, but it's Stellar and it's the sands, and that meant she could hear, whether Lily likes it or not.
Another sound that Stellar caught, but the temporary blinded woman knows she's too late to block, and instead, ducked downwards.
And from behind her, a giant roared, slamming the powered down Stone Edge aside. Aria's her battle partner, and a devastating combo, at that. Sam screeched, moving backwards before rushing in for Aerial Ace, Lily on the other side going for a Fire Punch.
Stellar, from her position below, lowered her head, knowing what Aria's going to do without even communicating. The Steel Type blocked the Fire Punch with her tail, and though the Aerial Ace hit her, that same moment, when Sam hits the Aggron Stellar caught the Archeops in a hold, pulling him down with her.
A cry, and then there was rocks, a powered down Rock Slide, though it might hurt the woman all the same. Stellar heard the rumble, letting go of Sam the same moment Aria covered her trainer, and Stellar extended her branch upwards to jab at Lily, who is going for a Brick Break.
Aria let out a roar, pushing everything away from the Steel Type and Stellar with a Protect. Sam and Lily was pushed back, and the remaining rocks from the Rock Slide, thought powered down, flew away far, potentially hitting a traveller that they didn't expect, in this small, obscure corner of the desert....
Notes
So Stellar had stayed in this desert for about a month, conducting her trainings to strengthen herself and her team (they stay in a small, makeshift cave tunneled by Aria nearby). They are in the corner, hard to venture and hardly foudn part of the desert.
They are currently in one of their training session, a two on two, Stellar & Aria vs Lily(Ampharos) & Sam (Male Archeops). To up the stakes, Stellar is blind folded, depending on her ears, only her many years in the desert allowed her to listen to the slightest change. She's using a branch as a makeshift weapon, cause her dagger is too sharp, and all her Pokemon are using powered down drastically version of their moves, enough to hit and hrut, but not kill.
Things were going fine until Aria covered Stellar and threw a protect to push their two opponents away, and the Rock Slide that Sam had used was thrown upwards, potentially hitting any unfortunate traveller who's brave enugh to venture this far in the Hoenn Desert...
A cloaked man wandered the desert with a Rhyhorn and Phanpy at his side. His visibility was cut short and he could barely rely on his senses in the thicket of this sandstorm. That is why Dashar and Thrasher were present. There was a change in the wind, something was coming. The two Pokemon noticed two large boulders incoming. The trainer did not fret, not paying any attention to the looming shadow. The large masses were completely destroyed by Take Down & Rollout respectively. 'Rhy! Rhyy!' Dashar raved. The woman stamped about and began to charge forward towards figures she saw in the storm.
Tanker used Rollout - Dashar used Take Down
Nick did not feed too much into the charging Rhyhorn, Dashar was a very impulsive and childish Pokemon. She would just run off like that at a whim. Nonetheless, Nick followed with Tanker to his right. The little elephant was a little more tamed than the rampaging Rhyhorn. Nick had a way, a charm about him, something that was rough, yet calming. He didn't have this way with all Pokemon, but Pokemon he trained and owned definitely respected him and vice versa. Dashar needed a little more training and coaching, but she would get to that point soon as well.
Meanwhile, as Nick was still walking in the directions Dashar had ran. Then Rhyhorn would encounter the sparring Pokemon. Without any type of caution she immediately charged at the Ampharos, which was actually a good idea considering typing, and her horn began to glow as she attempted to ram into the weak point on the beast's belly with Chip Away.
Charging at Ampharos with Chip Away
ooc - nick is so unfortunate. stella is gonna be surprised to see jylarl evolved yippee. tags - @stellar
Aria took that moment after Protect to charge up for an Ice Beam, a move she's trying to power up further, but the charge died down when Lily suddenly let otu a surprise squeal, another Pokemon tackling her away.
Stellar turned her head to the sound, frowning beneath the blindfold. Aria reach out to attack, but Stellar's hand shot out, and the metal giant stopped. Sam flapped his wings, before stopping by Stellar's side; their training is effectively over with the new threat, after all.
The woman patted the Archeops, instinctively knowing where he is even when she's blinded, before tapping once. Sam took off to the air, flying up to search for any threats.
On Lily's side, the Ampharos got back on her feet after the Chip Away. It's powerful, but the Rhyhorn is an unevolved versus her, Lily, who have survived a war and back by Stellar side. She can take this with no problem; the Rhyhorn have picked wrongly, for this battle.
The Ampharos rushed forward, kicking sand everywhere. Normally something that hinders a non-native desert Pokemon, Lily have practiced long enough here to know how to step properly on sand, fight properly with all her abilities intact. A large beam shot out from the gem on her head, Focus Blast, a new move she have just mastered.
The Ampharos didn't wait to see it hit, instead hopping backwards and prepared her paws for Brick Break, if the Focus Blast missed.
On Sam's side, the Archeops was scouring the area from the sky. Birds will find it difficult in the desert, but the Archeops' is a fossil and this is their natural habitat, so it's more than alright for him. A movement, and Same dived down, letting out a loud screech as warning to whoever it s to get away from here.
All the while, Stellar stands, still and listening to the happenings. Lily seems to be facing no problems, and Sam had just issued a warning. She could feel Aria's presence behind her, guardian, even as her eyes could see nothing.
Notes
Yes, Nick is rather unfortunate. And wow, that's fast, though IC-ly, it is a month. Still fast.
Dashar was sent flying by the beam of energy, the attack was super effective! The staggering beast would be brought down to her stomach by the relentless Brick Break - if Tanker did not get there in time! The Phanpy would leap forward and use Defense Curl. In the solid form, the beast would dash forward with more power since his body had hardened. The swift animal would cut off the Brick Break effectively with Rollout. The Phanpy would land in front of his naive teammate as the cloaked man arrived.
Dashar was hit by Focus Blast
Tanker blocked Brick Break with Defense Curl & Rollout
Aggron. Archeops. Ampharos. Nick would look up and noticed a girl with her eyes covered by a piece of cloth. She was blindfolded and training in this harsh desert. Nick would have thought the woman to be in trouble if Ampharos was indigenous to the desert. However, seeing these Pokemon only meant one thing. The distinctive feature of pink eyes had to be under that blindfold. He would stare at the woman, it had been only a month or so since he last saw her. Tanker's head was forward and tucked, the little guy was ready to do battle - albeit nervous against these fully evolved Pokemon. Dashar had finally gathered some stamina to stand and let out a cry as she stood up behind Nickol.
"Stella?"
party pkmn - vibrava, krookorok, phanpy, rhyhorn, palpitoad, scizor ooc - it is fast to meet again huh. in origins red had only been a trainer for ten days and made it to pewter city and beat brock lol ten days. tags - @stellar
Lily was a little disgruntled by the fact that another Pokemon joined into the match, and that the Brick Break was cut off effectively. The Ampharos huffed, with a leap going back to Stellar's side, taking her on defensive stance. Lily's going to train her Brick Break harder, if that's the last thing she does. She should have been able to push that Phanphy away, regardless of typing or native attack skill.
("Stella?")
Coupled with Aria's soft, confirming grunt, Stellar's hand lowered the branch she was holding, another coming up to pull the long, cloth strip she was using as blindfold. That voice, it's familiar in a sense that there's no memory of it being hostile. Plus, Aria seems to agree, and that's all she needs to lower her guard.
As soon as she open her blindfold, a strong, large Protect was thrown up by Sam, who landed by Stellar's side with a squawk. With the Protect up, the sand storm couldn't reach them, and silence settled in the place. The Archeops has great sense of timing, and great amount of power, because Sam's Protect is strong, shown by the sharp, healthy, translucent color of the Protect, and that it extends large enough for everyone, including Aria and all the way to Nick's side and his team.
Now that the sand can't reach them and there's no more noise, Stellar gasp.
"Nick?"
Stellar stepped forward, but her steps didn't fumble. It's like her balance is perfect on the uneven, shifting sands, and since she knows Nick, she sees no point in pretending to be careless in a desert, of all places.
Stellar remembers him, of course, the trainer she met about a month ago, just before she left for the desert. Did he follow her here? No way, she would have found him earlier if that was it; her Archeops scoured the desert often for security after all.
"What are you doing here?" She took a quick, worried glance over him. "Are you lost?" Cause if he is, she'll direct him out, since she still needs to be here quite a bit. Maybe.
Notes
That's origins, though, so there's that. On the other hand, Stellar should totally bring him to the small cave she asked Aria to tunnel for the duration of her stay. It would be interesting for Nick.
Lost! Was she serious? Nick doesn't get lost - all the time. Well in these regions he has found himself lost a few times, but only when trying to leave dark caves and stuff. He was no stranger to this desert though. The Hoenn Desert was a spot his father marked for him to train. Nick had decided to occasionally visit to ground himself and his Pokemon. These sandstorms are where a lot of his Pokemon's true strength and speed come forward. He wants to learn how to harness the power of a sandstorm for battle.
But besides all of that he was quick to answer Stella. "I am not lost at all. Why are you training in this storm, blindfolded?" Nick questioned. Even though he did not like seeing women participate in harsh activities such as these. Outside of his opinion of women, he would not recommend this type of training to anyone. Like who or what was Stella? Nick was slowly putting together a few mysterious things. She is a young, little woman, with a harsh battle style and train very savagely was well. Nick was a tough guy, but this was really an extreme for him.
His hazel eyes watched as the protect expanded pushing back the ferocious grains. This was almost the thicket of the Sandstorm. Archeops probably could navigate through, and Aggron with so much size could protect Stella. Unfortunately for Nick he began to size up his Pokemon for this storm. Tanker was just a little hype Phanpy. Dashar was about to get thrashed for her mindless running. Alligator could dig them a path - but the sand would fill the hole pretty quickly so that wasn't an option. Yonko was not even considered. So Nick really on had Jylarl and Cero to rely on of course. Hopefully things don't get rough where they have to - I dunno - get out of this violent sand wave. Nick had some training to do, a lot.
Standing at Nick's side
ooc - ohhh la la. stella and nick in a tunnel. yeah nick definitely must go down there lol i need to start evolving some of my pkmn. my team is so teeny tags - @stellar
Well, it's good to know Nick's not lost. She never liked the thought of anyone lost in the desert, unless they are her enemies. It is a rather harsh place to be lost, in, to hallucinate and burn under the heat before losing all hope and potentially dying.
Of course, though, Nick was quick to ask of her training. Stellar tucked her blindfold into her pocket, smiling softly. "It's just that, training. Blindfolded training is good." Extreme, but good, all the same. Good for trust, for response, for reminders.
"...so if you're not lost, are you here to train, as well?" Stellar looked down at his new Pokemon. "New friends, huh?" She lowered herself, and let the two new Pokemon sniff her hand. "Hello there, guys."
Looking up, she asked Nick. "What's their names?"
Behind her, Lily relaxed her stance, now just looking around by Aria's side. The Aggron is still watching, ready in case of anything. And then there's Sam, who is still holding up the Protect with no strain on his body. All three Pokemon awaits on what to do next.
Notes
Oh wow, LOL. tunnel. Don't worry, your team will be strong, sooner or later. I need to evolve some of my Pokemon too, though not in this thread, since currently the team Stellar is with is all her veteran ones.
Nick looked at Stella with blank eyes. He did not know what to say to this woman. Who thinks training in the desert with a blindfold is a good idea? Nickol rubbed his head and would look at her Aggron. Aria was definitely the tank of the team, and for some reason the large iron gargantuan still had her guard up. Nick could sense how much Aria cared for and watched over Stella, definitely a plausible trait. Her Pokemon seemed so hostile and had an edgy feel to them. Nick could not put his hand on it yet, but his eyes would leave from the Aggron's and return to Stella.
He would open his left palm in the direction of his little elephant. "This is Tanker." The Phanpy let out a cry of joy as he proceeded to jump up and down. He was happy to meet Stella and her Pokemon. His right hand would open, hovering over his Rhyhorn. "This little charging girl is Dashar." Unlike Tanker, Dashar was calm. She had just been attacked by the Ampharos so she was not to fond of Stella or her team right now. Awww, her feelings. Well, now I know Dashar is capable of something more than tackling stuff. The stout trainer thought as he looked over at his, serious, Rhyhorn.
"Of course I am here doing a little training with my new additions. You should not be training in this harsh environment like this - you're gonna hurt yourself." Nick said boldly. He did not want to see the beautiful lady hurt. He did not understand her harshness. She has pink eyes for crying out loud!
"Hello Tanker, Dashar," she patted the Phanpy, but she didn't do the same for Dashar. The Rhyhorn looked annoyed, after all and Stellar know better than to try. That's just asking for trouble.
She looked up at Nick at the comment that the environment is harsh. Stellar gave Nick a smile. "That's great, I hope they will do well in training," she patted Tanker one more time, before standing up an dusting her pants lightly. "Harsh? Ah, the desert is never harsh to me." Briefly, she brushed her own hand over her arm, feeling the rawness of the skin. It doesn't hurt, not anymore, but the desert is a great place to feel how vulnerable and invulnerable she is.
"...I've been here for a month," she said offhandedly, "Are you going to stay for the night too?"
Behind her, Aria had caught Nick's glance, and in a way, understood the question he thought. He underestimates her dear trainer, her best friend, and that was always their mistake. Lily's getting slightly impatient, now, fidgeting more and more. Since the man is a friendly, she wants to go back to training or playing, but she still fears what happens if she left Stellar. Sam let out a grunt at the fidgety Ampharos, keeping the Protect up.
Nick calculated the time in his head between his last visit with Stella and now. She had not only made it to Hoenn, but had been training here for an entire month. Nick had only been out here a couple days, but their paths would not cross. He recalled his time in the desert, it was actually here, where he met these two wonderful Pokemon at his side. This was actually their homeland in a sense, so surely they did not feel out of place. Nick would look ahead towards her Archeops who again was holding up Protect for them. Her Pokemon were great in battle, and have a variety of use outside of battle. This triggered something in Nickol. Every time he was around her, there was this eerie unknown about her.
"What is the deal with you Stella? I mean your Pokemon are so intense. In battle you're so intense. And you train in the desert with a blindfold? For what? Why? What are you preparing for - the Army? A War?"
Nick's voice had a sense of frustration. He thought himself to be quite the reader of people. This woman had him stumped. In battle, she bested him. Her training was more intense and vigorous than his own regiments! Why? He was bothered, and his question was priority. He did not even pay attention to the questions she had asked or her light statements, he just wanted to know. Perhaps, deep down he wanted to get closer to the woman and there was this wall up - he could see it. He had to know.
("What is the deal with you Stella? I mean your Pokemon are so intense. In battle you're so intense. And you train in the desert with a blindfold? For what? Why? What are you preparing for - the Army? A War?")
She had opened her mouth to brush it off, at the beginning of the sentence, but she was caught off by how accurate he managed to pin her down. Of course, Stellar never meant to hide; after all, while she regrets she killed, she couldn't regret the companions she had come to know and lost. She couldn't hide it away, and it became a struggle, whether to cover it away, buried forever, or to show it. In a battle, it is honest; no one can hide anything in a battle.
She never wanted to hide it from Nick, but she's afraid to show him, too.
She bit her bottom lip, looking pressured under the interrogation of sorts. Her mind argued; she should tell him, it's only right, and she had always been loyal to what she knows is right, but will that scare him? She doesn't think so, but lies are everywhere and there are people who will never accepts she had killed, before, whether for morals, honor, life, or anything else.
Stellar took a deep breath.
It has to come to this, she thought, even with another friend she had just met. There is no true friendship without trust.
She opened her mouth, and for her eyes to widened as her ears caught a sound, even thought the sands are howling. Behind her, her Pokemon perked up as well, especially Sam.
"Cover yourself!" Stellar threw up her hands to cover her face, and Sam's Protect fell, the shield disappearing, before it was threw up abruptly, again.
A squawk, a new addition just flew into the Protect they are in. Plume shook all the sands of her body, nodding to Aria, nuzzling Sam and greeting her teammates, before walking over to Stellar in giant steps. The Archeops crooned at Nick, recognizing him easily.
Stellar reached out to pat the Archeops, momentarily forgetting Nick's question. "...how's the situation and our food?" she asked, and the Archeops nodded proudly, having taken a good fly over the desert and hunting for their food, and she got quite a bit. It was suppose to be her mate's turn, but when Stellar didn't show up in time, she had flown to find her, thus, found them here.
Notes
The Protect dropped then thrown back up. Oh Sam. LOL. Here comes Plume!
That triggered an emotion. She just ignored my question. Nick was not upset, but he did feel a little brushed off. A calm mannered person he would turn his back as he began to walk off. He took the time to return Tanker and Dashar to their PokeBall, with no word. He was quite done here, he had more important things to do than to be here trying to save, profess, and whatever else he was dabbling in with Stella. Before he could bid his farewell, a red light zoomed from his pouch. I guess Nick wasn't the only one feeling some type of way.
"Jy?" Nick said shocked to see the Pokemon popped out. The eyes on the Vibrava were cold. Both of his enemies were preset - Aria & Plume. The impulsive, prideful beast could not stay trapped within his chambers. Oh no - he had to make an appearance. Nick too had brushed off the fact that Jylarl had a deep grudge towards Stella's two Pokemon. Her brushing off Nick was not helping his opinion of her either. 'I want to take you both on! C'mon losers.' Jy growled. Nick was shocked, probably as much as everyone else present. He's not ready. Nick had his own ambitions and in the mix maybe didn't focus on training Jylarl as much as he should to reach his Pokemon's goal. Aria and Plume were very strong - Jy was getting there. The Vibrava looked back at Nick for some support. As reluctant as he was, he would turn forward and with a bold face await Stella's response.
Stellar's eyes were drawn to Nick, and as he walked off, she felt her heart sank. It's over, a voice in her head murmured, it's over and you'll never see him again. He knows what you are, a monster, monster deep down, and he won't associate himself with you.
He gave up on you.
Once upon a time, Stellar would have slide down to the ground, giving up as she lost another, not to Death but still of her own mistakes. It hurts, an it never stops hurting, and inside, she felt angry at the war itself for dragging her to situations like this. She didn't ask for it!
A flash of red, and it for a moment, Stellar thought it's blood, but it's too bright and too red for that.
Plume let out a screech, eyes narrowing when the Archeops realized who that is. She stepped in front of Stellar; having been the Trapinch's former 'teammate', though that term is used very loosely, the Archeops have an idea who the hatred is directed at.
Jylarl, Stellar realized, Another one that hates her.
She let a resigned sigh, nodding weakly. Plume frowned, not likign the demeanour change in Stellar. She look at the Vibrava, spreading her wings.
And in flash, Plume's gone, kicking up the sand as she left for the air, Agility already boosting her movements and a quick swipe of her feathers, throwing Stone Edge towards the Vibrava front from the air. The sharp stones was swung to the Dragon Type in high speeds, coupled by the force of the throw and gravity.
Behind, Lily reached out and patted Stellar's shoulder, eyes serious. The Ampharos, like Aria, who look like she wants to sweep Stellar away from there, knows what went through the girl's mind, along with Sam. They are there for her, was what Lily wanted to say, smiling at the girl weakly.
Archeops was fast. This was not Nick's first time witnessing the birds speed. As of now, Jy could not compete either. Nick watched the dust fly as Plume took off. As hard as Nick was watching, Jy was as well. The Vibrava did struggle to keep up with Plume, but he did not let his inability to track his mark interfere with his will to win. The dragon rushed forward, before being stunned by which once seemed like an image of Plume. The eyes of Jylarl played him, Plume was gone and he had flew right into Stone Edge. The only one that saw this coming was Nick. Who at the sidelines was calling to Jy - this entire time. With no response.
Jy was in a tunnel. Despite his roaring trainer, the only thing he could see and focus on was defeating Plume. The Stone Edge would slice the beast's body up nicely as he slammed into the sandy floor. Nick brushed his fingers through his hair - definitely frustrated with his non-responsive partner. "Jy. Shake it off, I have a pla-" The trainer's instruction were cut off by the fluttering of the rising Vibrava. A smile came across Nick's face as he saw the creature rise. He knew Jy took a huge hit and a lot of damage, but he was not out the game just yet! "Alright, you can do it, use -" His voice was officially tuned out.
The dragonfly-esque Pokemon took the the skies. He was ignoring Nick. He narrowed his eyes at Plume and angrily formed an orange hued ball of energy. The energy collected in the mouth of the vibration Pokemon. His wings fluttered viciously as he let out the Hyper Beam. Nick just watched, looking up at the field as he realized Jy had succumb to his emotions. His highly emotional state, prevented him from thinking clearly. He had no plan and just wanted to attack. He was not listening to Nickol nor paying attention to his surrounding. All that he could see was Plume. His unclear thought and inability to control his hatred. That would be his downfall. Nick's hazel eyes just watched, he knew how this would end. Oh yes, he knew.
Hit by Stone Edge, and used Hyper Beam
ooc - lol Stella is going to go insane. so much emotionally wrong with her probably tags - @stellar
Stellar watched the battle, eyes blank. So many emotions, warring for dominance, so as defense, she wiped all expressions off. No point having any when she can't decide which to feel.
Jylarl's hatred, so obvious, emitting all over the battlefield. She could almost taste it; it's familiar, the feeling of being hated, of letting emotions overtake your soul and fight till death, regardless. Stellar blinked, slowly, and suddenly, her stance harden, and she stood straight, gently brushing of Lily's paw.
Her Pokemon felt the wrongness in Stellar way before Nick could see it, and horror was etched on Lily's face. Aria growled softly, a warning not to anyone but her own trainer, of all people, to warn Stellar to calm down, now, to snap out of it. Sam was bristling, but it's fear and tension that made him bristle, the feel of something bad going to happen.
Stellar hears silence, and sees nothing but hate, a quiet red. All these emotions, this vulnerability, this betrayal yet lost, whether real or fake, is too similar to situations once upon a time, and she tightened her grip on the branch she was holding.
She let her control go.
"Plume, Protect. Dragon Tail."
Her voice was icy, her eyes similarly cold, face expressionless. This is protection, this is her most brutal, more brutal than ever. This is a Pokemon Trainer's passion for battling twisted, twisted by the conditions of the world to produce something ugly, however defensive.
The Archeops battling could feel the ice in her trainer's voice. Rarely does Stellar dabble into commands, and when she does, it rarely ends well. However, commands are commands, and Plume knows that it won't harm her.
No. This state never harms her Pokemon.
In the end, the only victim of this cold, cold state of Stellar is the trainer herself, who cries to sleep after she realizes what took over her.
The female Archeops threw up a Protect, easily washing off the immature Hyper Beam, vicious power, but no direction, thus easily fallen apart. That, and her Protects have always been amazingly powerful, no reason for it to fail now.
The bird dived downwards, no beautiful arc like in the last battle, only harsh, swift flight, and slammed her tail on the Vibrava, glowing with Dragon Tail, viciously super effective and, if hit, throws the Vibrava out of the battle.
Notes
Being in war for too long and young tends to do that to you. She had always been too emotional, so maybe, yes, she is a little mad.
