No matter how calm and gentle Stellar knows Aria is, the trainer also knows it is a good idea to treat the Aggron once in a while. It's really not something only a genius can figure it out, and Stellar can't help but want to treat Aria as much as possible, since the steel type is her close friend and all.
And that's how Stellar found herself riding on the palm of her Aggron as the Pokemon burrows through Mt.Silver.
Aria tore through the earth like it's nothing, chipping away at the soil and tunneling it faster than anything on earth. She's searching for some iron, which is a treat, Stellar mused. The trainer accompanies the Pokemon, of course, even if the tunneling thing is a little claustrophobic. Aria was careful to keep Stellar wrapped in a Protect, which is really thoughtful of the Pokemon.
They have been digging for ages now, maybe an hour or so. In that hour, Stellar have seen how Aria devoured iron like nothing, chewing on it like sweets. Briefly, she wondered how they taste like, but the thought didn't appeal to her, so oh well. This won't be the first time she did this, though this kind of activity is rare since it's not like it's easy to find a mountain good enough for Aria to tunnel through.
"Ria," she patted the Aggron. It never cease to amaze her how well Aria responds to her, the Aggron's wildness disappearing from the steel type's eyes and staring down at her trainer adoringly, despite only having a small light from the tiny flashlight Stellar is clinging on to.
The Aggron grunted, and started to dig in another way. She digs extremely fast, and in less than ten minutes Stellar had to close her eyes at the sunlight that bask over them, after an hour beneath the earth.
The trainer let out a small cough, feeling herself being placed downwards by her Aggron. She have no idea where they surface, but that should be an easy problem to solve if they fly out of the mountain range. A sudden sound caught her attention, and both trainer and Pokemon quickly look towards the sound's direction.
CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GANGNAM STYLE
OOC :: Looking for a practice battle with any random trainer, but anything else is fine too.
“Ugh, damn that old man…” Gold muttered to himself, tucking his hands into his pockets as he glided across the ground on his skateboard. Why was it always him that Professor Elm bothered? Okay, sure, Chris was in Kanto being Oak’s assistant, he could deal with that. But Silver? Silver was perfectly free, as far as he could tell, and just as easily contacted.
Alright, well… he never answered whenever he or Chris tried to contact him, but… still!
And so, that left only him for Elm to bother ceaselessly about menial stuff like “finishing his Pokedex” or whatever. “Can’t believe I’m doing this…” he sighed, weaving as he approached his destination: Mt. Silver. Unfortunately, as he approached the overgrown dirt mound, a part of the mountain seemed to explode outwards, nearly shocking the teen enough to make him fall off of his skateboard.
“WHOA! WATCH IT!” Gold shouted, donning his goggles to protect his eyes from the incoming dirt. “I’M WALKING HERE!”
Stellar stepped forward, only to stumble because of her lack of movement and sunlight for the past hour, feeling the dizzy wave. She immediately caught on to the nearest object; once the dizzy spots cleared from her eyesight, she could see that the thing she had caught on to is Aria's tail, the Aggron thoughtful enough to bring it up for her.
"Thank you," she chimed up to Aria, before looking over to the stranger. Immediately, she apologized. After all, it's her fault and it could have been extremely dangerous.
"We're sorry for that," Stellar said, "We weren't really expecting anyone to pass by here; after all, they say Mt.Silver has really strong Pokemon." Thus, there usually is no one walking about so casually, no? Of all days, her luck must be having fun or something, to actually manage to encounter someone while expecting no one around.
"On that note," Stellar was quick to ask, "What are you doing here? This is a pretty dangerous place." Casually, she dusted off the dirt from her attire, but her eyes were kept trained on this new stranger. She knows that behind her, Aria is keeping a sharp eye as well, the Aggron's large size tend to be intimidating to most.
Gold glared at the clearing dust through his goggles, coughing a bit to clear his throat. Who bursts out through a mountain like that? They could have seriously hurt someone! And then the voice of the reckless person spoke, sounding very, very feminine. And then the dust fully cleared, and the teen was greeted to the sight of a… well, let’s be honest here: this woman was cute. Very much so. The memory of Crystal’s reactions was the only thing keeping him from wolf whistling.
Oh, she was apologizing. He’d been so caught up in looking her over that he barely heard her. “It’s alright, I guess,” he said, playing it cool. “I guess not that many people come by this place, anyway, so I can’t really blame you.”
Brushing the dust off his clothes, he looked at the young woman and her Aggron, both of whom seemed to be watching him. The Steel-type probably intended to look intimidating, but the Pokedex Holder didn’t even tense. After what he’d been through over the years, an Aggron seemed almost tame in comparison.
“Old man Elm told me to go catch a Pokemon or something,” he said rather casually. “He keeps bugging me about finishing this thing, and I’m just doing this to shut him up. Besides, it’s not like I’ve never been here before,” he said, recalling his training journey with Red all those years ago, after the first world-threatening event he’d gone through. “The Pokemon in there aren’t that tough once you get used to ‘em, anyways. But what are YOU doing here?” the young man countered, pointing at the older woman.
Stellar can't say that she knows who that is. Maybe it's this dude's dad? But to say the Pokemon here is not tough; this teen must either be suicidal, reckless, or rather strong. Stellar isn't going to cross of the last thought just yet, for all you know, he could be genius kind of trainer that trains Pokemon really, really well.
"Well, like you said, the Pokemon here isn't that tough once you get used to them," Stellar quipped back lightly, smiling. With Aria around, she's never afraid. Most wild Pokemon rarely are suicidal enough to attack a territorial Aggron, especially one that actually been trained well, both by trainer and consequences of war.
"I'm just here to treat Ria," Stellar shrugged, "I thought she might be happy with a little digging and iron eating." The Aggron huffed a little, thanking the woman with a gentle nudge of her arm. Stellar just took the nudged without a blink of an eye, understanding almost instantly. "So what's the thing you are trying to finish?"
Aria huffed lightly. She doesn't like how this teen is not at all flinching at her appearance, because this means that the Aggron can't judge if she's a threat to him or not. What would she do if he attacks her trainer, then, if he's not afraid of the steel type at all?
Gold looked up at the large Pokemon as the attractive woman answered his question, assessing it. He pulled out his Pokedex and scrolled through the various Pokemon already recorded. It had been a while since he had seen an Aggron –the last one he’d seen belonged to Wild Girl, who he’d last seen during the last Pokedex Holder meet up- and he needed a refresher course as to why exactly she’d need to take this “Ria” to Mt. Silver to eat, and not just feed her a few of silverware instead.
“Oh, they basically live in mountains their whole lives,” Gold muttered, looking back up from his screen at the Aggron. “Guess that makes sense to bring it to a mountain instead of just giving it some utensils to chew on.
“Anyway, Elm keeps bugging me to finish this thing,” he continued, lifting up the Pokedex for the woman to see. “I’m supposed to record Pokemon data here.” Irritation was clear in his voice; if that nosy professor wanted to se the Pokedex completed that badly he could just but Oak to send over Crystal’s. Damn Silver for vanishing like tha-
…
Gold paused mentally, finally noticing the look in Aggron’s eyes; frustrated and displeased. “…Yo, what’s up with your Aggron?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Looks like it’s trying to see through me or something.”
Stellar let out a soft chuckle at how Gold described Aria from his interesting device. "Technically yeah, but Aria here is my companion since forever, so she haven't lived in mountains for their whole lives," she giggled, "The utensils idea is very worth thinking though, thanks. I just thought letting her roam a bit would be an excellent treat, since this is her natural habitat and all."
Stellar lean forward to take a look at that object. "Recording Pokemon data huh," she murmured, "Does that mean you are an assistant researcher or something? Is this Elm a professor? Scientist? Your dad?"
The woman finally looked away when Gold mentioned something about Aria. Anything that concerns Aria will always get her attention first, of course. Stellar looked up and looked at Aria.
Oooh.
She recognized that look well enough. Stellar knows that reaction all too well, which saved her lives a few times, but for now...well, who knows? "Ria," Stellar nudged the Steel Type with her arm, not even afraid to go near despite the irritated look the Aggron is sporting.
The Aggron huffed, but looked away. At least Aria will understand that Stellar wants to be friends.
"She's protective," Stellar explained, "We've been through a lot, so yeah. Oh, how rude of me. I'm Stell, and this is Aria, my starter. You are?"
The young man couldn’t help but snort at the woman’s question. “Elm’s Johto’s professor,” he retorted, crossing his arms. “No way that shut-in’s my dad!” he huffed, indignant by the fact that someone actually believed he was related to Elm! She must not know all that much about Johto, then, if she thought that. “And I’m not an assistant, either,” he continued. That was Chris’ territory, and he had absolutely no interest in such endeavors.
Gold resisted the urge to say “Yeah, I could tell” when the woman explained that the Aggron was very protective of its trainer. It was obvious that the Steel-type was cautious of him, and the Pokedex Holder could see the reluctance when it obliged to its trainer’s unspoken request.
And hey, he got a name out of her! Stell, she introduced herself, and Aria the Aggron. It took Gold a second to remember what she meant by ‘starter’. Having lived with Pokemon his entire life, the concept of having only one, singular Pokemon to start your journey with was foreign to him. He also had to wonder what made the Aggron so protective of its trainer.
“I’m Gold,” he said, pointing a thumb at himself as he dismounted his board finally. “Nice to meetcha, Stell. Where ya from, anyway? You can’t be from Johto if you don’t know who Elm is…” he found himself trailing off as he felt something rattle. Looking down, he found Explotaro looking up at him meaningfully. “You wanna come out, Explotaro? Alright, suit yourself.” He tossed the Pokeball out, allowing the Typhlosion to grow to its full size.
Johto's professor huh? Oh, that's awkward, No wonder it's like she's suppose to know him somehow. So he's neither an assistant nor his son, but he's helping the professor either way. A friend, then, Stellar concluded.
Stellar have taken to patting Aria's arm to reassure her Aggron. This is a peaceful region, her gesture is saying, please let me make some friends for real this time? The friends that I won't lose in a blink of an eye to death?
"Gold. That's a very nice name," Stellar perked up. So he isn't so annoyed with her to the point he doesn't want to be her friend, which is a massive yay to her. "It's very nice to meet you too. I...uh...I'm from a region far from here." He's observant, but like what he pointed out, her lack of knowledge really did give her away. She probably should look up at the names of the famous people around these regions.
And he has a Thyplosion.
Aria let out a grunt at the sudden appearance, but said nothing else cause Stellar nudged her again. It's very cool to see a Thyplosion up close, though.
"Woah," she breathed in awe, "You have a really cool Thyplosion. Hello there Explotaro, nice to meet you too."
It looks very well trained, which is really cool. "He seems excellently trained." Sleek, strong body with a good look in his eyes.
Stellar's hand brushed over the bruises and slight cracks in Aria's armor, the ones that healed but left scars from the kind of violent battles she's used to. "He's your starter?"
He couldn’t help but smile; a genuine smile, something very few things could make him do, nowadays. That was the first time in recent memory that a girl had actually complimented his name. “Thanks,” he said, trying to keep the grin off his face, “your name’s great, too, Stell.” Having grown a bit, Gold could tell she didn’t really want to talk about her home region, and knew better than to push her to elaborate on her already vague answer.
The Pokedex Holder smirked, knowing full well what his Typhlosion was feeling. The Fire-Type Pokemon smiled in pride at the woman’s compliment, the flames on his back flaring up a bit. “Yeah, Explotaro’s one of a kind, that’s for sure,” the young man said with a smile, patting his friend’s head affectionately.
And then there was that word again: “starter”. He’d been around the block enough times to know that the term referred to the Pokemon kids received or caught on order to start their journey. Having grown up with Pokemon his entire life, Gold really didn’t have any sort of Pokemon that he could call his “starter”. Ataro and Politaro had been with him since that fateful day all those years ago, but he had “borrowed” Explotaro from Elm’s lab to pursue Silver, which he supposed was the actual beginning of his journey.
“…Yeah,” he said, after a moment of contemplation. “I guess he is. And I’m guessing she’s your starter?” he asked in return, pointing to the Aggron. Meanwhile, Explotaro was looking up at Aria, sizing the larger Pokemon up and evaluating it. Nothing personal, of course; it was more likely curiosity that tickled his fancy.
"Yeah," Stellar replied to the starter question. It's so easy to answer, in Stellar's opinion, since she have grown up with the Aron all her life, still remembering the fond days when Aria is small enough to lie down on her chest and she could carry her around, albeit being super heavy.
Aria, behind her, narrowed her eyes when the Thyplosion sized her up. If the Aggron has any visible ears they would be flattened close to her head now, agitated and wary. Too much war scars on her shoulders, much to both Pokemon and trainer's chagrin.
"So, uh, are you going to go find a Pokemon, now?" she asked. Considering Gold is trying to finish up what looks like an encyclopedia. "Do you want any help with that?" Her hand patted Aria slowly, soothing the Aggron down. No way she's letting this out of hand. Gold seems nice enough.
The Aggron looked down, letting out a displeased huff, but did nothing else as well. Her eyes were trained on the Thyplosion, watching it carefully.
"Any Pokemon in particular you are looking for?" Stellar asked, thinking back to her own team, "Could you just gather information about Pokemon from another trainer?" Cause that certainly sounds easier than just keep catching them.
Gold shrugged at Stell's question. "As much as I'd love to and make it a date, it's kind of a thing I've gotta do on my own. Thanks for the offer, though." He raised an eyebrow at her next inquiry. "Actually, I can," he said, recalling the features of his upgraded Pokedex. "Why do you ask?" he retorted curiously. "You offering or something?" If she would be willing to show her Pokemon to him -provided he hadn't already collected data on them over the years- that would save him so much time and effort. When it came to unwanted work, Gold always took the path of least resistance and the path that took the least amount of work on his part.
Maybe that's why Crystal wouldn't let him scan all the Pokemon she had caught, the Pokedex Holder wondered to himself. Maybe she thought it would be good for him to get off his ass and take the initiative, rather than waiting for something to just fall into his lap. Or she had just decided to be selfish and keep all the Pokemon for herself. Either way, he was surprised he hadn't broken her with his constant nagging over the years.
Meanwhile, Explotaro was still staring up at Aria, his impish nature getting the better of him as he smirked at the Aggron's caution.
Stellar can't help but turn a little pink at the suggestion of the date, and she shrugged it off as fast as possible.
("You offering or something?")
Stellar nodded.
Why not? It's to help others, and it saves time. She couldn't see anything harmful with the suggestion one bit. "What Pokemon do you need?" With a little scuffle, Stellar got out four pokeballs, one still tucked in another pocket.
Two reasons. One, she could surprise him if he turns out to be bad, even if that possibility is tiny. Two, she has two of that Pokemon anyway, so not really much of a point.
She held it out to Gold, showing him her current array. There's a shiny Ninetales, an Archeops, a Sawsbuck and an Ampharos. "Any Pokemon you haven't seen before?" Stellar faced her pokeball upwards, so her Pokemon could see through and see Gold as well, each looking at him and judging how dangerous he is with their own expressions.
Aria, on the othe hand, let out a frustrated growl. She isn't liking this Thyplosion one bit, and she huffed at him, warning him off.
He smiled at the woman’s nod. “Thanks a ton, Stell!” he said, leaning over to check out her Pokemon. He whistled, raising an eyebrow at the group of four Pokemon presented. “Dang, those are some Pokemon,” he remarked, pulling out his Pokedex again. Of course he had seen Green’s Ninetails before and Crys’ Ampharos, but the other two were very much foreign to the Johto-native. First, he pointed at the bird-like Pokemon.
“Check it out,” he said, moving himself behind Stell to show her the Pokedex data and entry, “First Bird Pokemon… so I guess that means you came from a fossil, am I right?” he glanced down at the flying-and-rock-type. “Takes off into the sky by running twenty-five miles?” the young man repeated, looking down at the Archeops again. “That’s pretty cool, Archeops,” he said, then shifted the Pokedex over to Stellar’s Sawsbuck.
“Season Pokemon,” he recited aloud, “migrate accoding to seasons, so some people can you guys the harbingers of spring? Sweet, so I guess you guys are a sight for sore eyes to people in the cold, aren’t you?” he smiled at the four Pokemon and their trainer.
Explotaro, on the other hand, simply continued to smirk up at Aria, rather enjoying the Aggron’s frustration. While not to the same degree as his trainer, the Typhlosion did indeed enjoy messing with people. He wouldn’t challenge the steel-type, nor would he battle with her to establish dominance, no; the fire-type wanted to simply have some fun with this overly-serious Pokemon.
There's a hint of pride in Stellar as Gold complimented her Pokemon; yes, they are the best team a person could ever get, in her opinion.
"Yeah, Sam did come from a fossil, good guess," she let out a soft chuckle, referring to the Archeops. Said Fossil Pokemon just stared at Gold, blinking.
Wystra, the Sawsbuck, on the other hand, stomped her hoof in a proud manner and nodded at Gold's question, smiling cheekily.
While Gold was looking at the four Pokemon, Stellar looked up to see Aria for a moment. She caught Aria's frustrations immediately; it's really, very obvious after all. Before she could say anything, though, Gold got her attention again, and Stellar looked back.
"Well, that's all I can offer," she smiled, "Sorry it isn't much. Guess you are leaving now, huh?"
A spark of idea came up to her head, and it would be good for Aria to let out her stress in a better manner than being restrained. "I'm going to head off soon, but before that, want to have a battle? One on one?"
Aria perked up hearing that, instantly guessing what Stellar is going at. She let out a pleased growl, snorting at the Thyplosion.
