[attr="class","elricscroll"]How in the fuck had Jax fallen off a cliff? Why the fuck had he even been near a cliff in the first place? Where was that nanny when he fucking needed her? Elric's mind was a haze of swear words and anger, fear underlining everything else as a dull ache in his stomach. He had gotten ready a lot faster than he ever thought he could, stepping out the door with only Voltage running beside him as he all but ran to the nearest train station. He was glad that the rails ran at night or else he would have been in a stick situation when it came to making it to Wizen.
The train ride was shitty and Elric was anxious the entire time, but he was soon pounding the streets of Wizen, on the prowl for the hospital. He was even sooner making it through the halls, opening the door to the room and stalking inside, his anger instantly disappearing when he saw Jax in the hospital bed. Instead, his expression filled with worry and he slowly slid a chair up toward the bed, settling down next to Jax.
Smiling quietly, he rubbed the back of his neck, "How and why were you on a cliff in the first place, let alone in Wizen, Jax?" Elric was already kicking himself for not paying better attention to the kid. He was sure to be reprimanded for this. Who let's their ward just fall off a cliff and not even know about it? Elric, apparently. What a shitty guardian he was. He stared at his hands, nervously wringing them in his lap. "Are you... going to be okay? What did you break, exactly?" he asked softly, brushing hair away from Jax's face, his head tilted a bit.
He silently resented being back in this hospital. It brought back far too many memories that just made him sink further and further into his own depression...
They had already put a chest wall cast on Jax and had him laying back on strong painkillers by time elric had got there. His eyes were closed for the most part, only cracking open a little when elric came into the room. The doctors were sitting in the corner with each other, going over his sheets. It took Jax a while before he recognized the blue haired figure in his room and started sobbing.
"I wasn't. I was hiking with sparky in the wilds.. And when we stopped to turn around we were charged by a rhydon!" He explained all he could remember as quickly as possible. His mind was fogged from the pain killers and concussion. He wasn't looking at elric directly, mainly cause he was fearing an abusive repercussion. For some reason or another. Elric would never hit Jax, but due to past abuse, he was always scared of how his guardian would react.
When he asked what he broke, he pointed up weakly to the papers hanging above his head, medical report copies left there for him, his guardian and his rescuer if he were to need them.
Sparky and Terabyte were still laying in the window, but looked up when they sensed their masters distress.

[attr="class","elricscroll"]Elric wasted no time walking toward the bed and grabbing the clip board above the bed. He flipped through a few of the forms, quiet and reading carefully. He wasn't a doctor of medicine, but he was pretty sure that he could understand what had happened to Jax on that cliff. His injuries were extensive, that much Elric could gather just by reading. He sighed heavily, sinking into his chair and looking toward Jax.
"You look like I'm going to bite your head off, kid," Elric mused, shaking his head and giving a small smile. "I'm not, so you can calm down a bit. I would, however, like if you told me when you're leaving Bayonada from now on," he said calmly, rubbing the back of his neck. "You are still my responsibility, and right now I know I've done a shit job of keeping track of you... and apparently a really bad job at making sure you're cared for."
He pushed down his nervousness and the crushing depression that came with returning to this place. They were even on the same floor he had been on when he'd found out about his 'parents'. A duo of liars and thieves, in all actuality. This place brought about memories that Elric had been trying to repress for quite a long while, and seeing Jax laying here, injured and in agony, almost pushed Elric over a ledge he was trying to avoid. He couldn't break down here. At all costs, he couldn't lose it here.
"Another day here, hm?" he asked, still staring down at the paper work. "I'm going to make a call for a hotel for the night and then I'll be back, alright buddy?" he asked with a softer expression now, reaching and putting his hand on Jax's head for a moment. This kid was like his little brother. It hurt to see him like this.
Elric escaped the room quickly, making a few calls and even stopping at the gift shop. He found a cute Luxray plushie and some Plusle and Minun socks and grabbed them off the rack, paying for them quickly before hiking the stairs back up to Jax's room. He came in with the tiny gifts and sat down next to Jax again, settling the Luxray plushie in Jax's arms, the smile still on his features. "I got you some warm socks, but we can save those for when we get home. Looks like you're going to crash at my house for a while, too," he mused quietly, feeling quite guilty for even having put Jax in a different apartment to begin with.
Maybe he would start clearing out that spare room... No more second monthly payment and little to no need for a nanny. The kid was getting old enough to be on his own. As long as he checked in with Elric he would be okay, right?
Jax's eyes were closed when Elric left him to go make a call... that was a long call. He took the liberty of looking around the room to note how quiet it was... but at least there was sun, and the windows were open, allowing the comfortable bursts of fresh air to have the liberty of coming into the room that reeked of sterilization solutions.
Sparky no longer had the bright blue coat that was so characteristic of a shiny Electrike, it was now darkened, almost black. He was so close to evolving, so close and that made Jax smile a tiny bit from the position he was in. Jolteon had his head on Sparky, his tail moving slowly and a small bark coming off of him to say hello to their wounded master. Luckily, it didn't make his head ache any worse than it already was.
He didn't like hospitals. His whole life, he was abused violently, and paid many visits to the hospital. They did nothing to help him either, they just kept sending him home with these people that kept making excuses about why he was the way he was. Fell in the tub, down the stairs, off his bed cause he wouldn't stop jumping on it. Hell, he didn't have a bed. Jax had to stop and squeeze his eyes shut, it was hard not to cry when his mind wandered away the way it did just now, but he couldn't let Elric see this side of him. The only thing Elric could know was that his parents died and that he was just a really big brat. Always causing trouble, always the little shit head vandal he came to the doors of the gym as.
Footsteps and Elric was back in the room. He had mentioned how shitty a job he was doing of watching over Jax, and well, no matter how afraid he was of abuse that wasn't going to come, he had to be honest. "I didn't tell you cause I thought you would yell... or do something worse." He didn't know Elric too well yet, mainly cause they didn't spend much time together. Hell, since the time they've known each other, Jax had already caught an Emolga, Blitzle and nearly evolved his Electrike and Elekid. His eyes then wandered over to his backpack with the Pokeballs attached to it, one rattled a little bit, and it was Hazard's ball.... maybe the Blitzle was just showing that rare spat of concern that he did every now and then.
When the Luxray was hand to him, his arm instinctively held onto it. Luxray was one of his favorite Pokemon. His dad had one that used to lick his wounds when no one was looking... he could only wonder what happened to Bolt, he didn't want to think about it. The day his dad found Bolt next to the kid was, horrifying... lots of yelling.. something slamming and then he never saw Bolt again.
He cursed his self internally. He was bored. There was nothing to distract him from the dark recesses of his mind and it only made everything worse as his chest tensed up with him holding back tears welling in his eyes and hiccups bounding in his chest. "Thank you bro." He tried to stay the optimistic kid he was and continued calling Elric bro, hoping that him acting so light about this wouldn't enrage him in any form or way. He mentioned him crashing at his place for a while... and well... that sounded good... it got lonely having no one there that could actually understand what you meant if you were bitching about a total wipe being needed.

[attr="class","elricscroll"]Elric reclined back in his chair a bit, watching his friend with a soft expression. He had no intention of hurting the kid. Hurting anyone really wasn’t in his nature. He took out his anger and rage on a punching bag, not on people. Especially little people. Granted, he’d been in a fight or two of his own, but the kids deserved it, and he had been way younger than he was now. That had been before he’d found other outlets for his frustration. Though, considering how the kid acted, he could guess what Jax had gone through. Was he going to ask about it? No. He wasn’t. Elric wasn’t going to pry until Jax truly felt up to telling him. Even then, there would be no judgement from Elric. He had been through his own pain with his own family… not that they were his family anymore. Heck, they had never truly been his parents at all.
Crossing one leg over the other, he shook his head, waving Jax off, “There’s nothing to be sorry about, Jax. Accidents happen and sometimes you can’t control the outcome.” Elric ran his hand back through his hair, letting out a heavy sigh, “It’s something you learn over time. Don’t feel sorry for your mistakes. At least the little ones. In the grand scheme of things, they really don’t matter. You’re human, I’m human, and I’m not angry with you. So chin up, smile, and enjoy the free food.” Elric was grinning now. He’d gotten that same advice from his own caretaker. The lady from Interpol that had helped him get back on his feet was still very prominent in his life and he took all of her words to heart. He’d probably be a lot angrier if he didn’t.
“So, it’s decided. Once you get out of here, I’m going to start the process to move you into my home. It might take a month or two because I’ve got a lot of junk to clean out from the spare room, but once you get better, you can help me. You’re free to snag anything that you want, that I won’t need, of course, because I know you like to tinker with things. Then we can really get started on some intense training.” Elric’s grin never faded from his features. He was absolutely sure that he wanted Jax a little closer. If not to cover his own butt, but also to keep Jax safe. He didn’t want another incident like this. Hospitals weren’t his thing, so he really just wanted to avoid having to go through the stress of sitting in one for days on end.
But he also needed to keep Jax safe. He couldn’t have his little apprentice getting burned, could he?
