Through the noise of her own eating –which she tried to keep to a minimum- Ramona listened in interest as the younger girl told her about Orre with a look in her eyes that hinted at a wisdom that had no right inhabiting such a young body. From what relatively little information she was given, the woman could guess that it was primarily an arid, desert-like location with only a few mountains. It made her wonder which was hotter: Lavaridge or Orre.
In the awkward lull that came after the explanation, Ramona took the time to examine MM once again: If Orre was as hot as the aqua-haired girl suggested, then one would think that a native resident would be more on the tan side. Though that didn’t necessarily have to be true, if one stayed inside or simply couldn’t tan.
And then Ramona found herself on the receiving end of questions: was Lavaridge nice?
“Well,” the martial artist began after gulping down a part of pancake, pausing to put a finger to her chin thoughtfully, “I’d say that Lavaridge was a really nice place, and I haven’t been to a resort town with that same spirit. Why I left…?” she had to think about that one. How did she put, in words, her intense desire to explore the world and follow her dreams?
“I guess…” the words came out slowly, ponderously. “I guess you could say that I felt like I needed to leave. I mean, I love the place to death, but there’re just so many other places in the world I haven’t seen yet. Not to mention I can’t really follow my dreams of becoming a champion if I just stay in one place, y’know?” Maybe she wasn’t getting her point across too well. “You probably know what I’m talking about, right? Why else would you leave your home region?”

Unnur nodded softly as she finished munching and gulping down some more goodies. Almost half of the entire loot initially brought to their table, by now, was gone, which soon put the one plate she was most curious about into the highlight: the smoked Magikarp. The thirteen year old stared at it, trying to figure out where the red fish's crown had gone. It proved to be an ordeal much greater than getting Warner, her tiny and very lame Fletchling, to stop pouting after she'd caught him.
Right now, however, there were—surprisingly—matters more important than food. Surprisingly, because food was and had always been, according to the most basic natural laws of the universe, the most important matter of all. What kind of topic could be possibly more important than that, then? One might ask. It was the idea of home that piqued her interest.
A home she'd lost.
More than half a year away from the town she'd called home for thirteen others, and this was only the second time Unnur thought about it; about her old life, about her home, about her mama. "I know," she nodded once more, this time slower, more deliberately, than last time. Her blue eyes unconsciously followed the shape of the round, smoked fish, and then back to the woman it belonged to.
The dead were not coming back to life.
"Oh," she mouthed quite audibly, the sadness in her voice and her eyes lazily starting to retreat into the innermost layers of her being. "How's that taste so far?"

Now, Ramona Albarn was not by any means the most perceptive person when it came to reading the feelings of others, but even she could tell that something was off with the way MM responded, even taking into account the way she’d conversed with the trainer thus far. There was a niggling temptation to dig deeper and ask if there was anything wrong, but even Ramona thought it was a bit forward for her to do something like that to someone she’d only just met. Regardless, it was nice to know that she’d managed to explain herself in a way that the younger girl could understand. However, she didn’t have too much time to read into it as the subject shifted to the Magikarp she was digging into, having finished over half of her bounty.
“Oh, it’s awesome,” the trainer responded happily between bites with a smile, oblivious to the traces of sadness in her companion’s voice. And it was true; the meal was every bit as delicious as she remembered and the flavors danced upon her tongue to create something beautiful. “You want some?” she asked, remembering how eager MM was when she mentioned it when ordering, “There’s plenty enough for both of us.” Just to extend the offer, she nudged the Magikarp’s plate closer to the younger girl.
[newclass=.bookmark]width:50px;line-height:12px;font-family:open sans condensed;color:black;font-size:11px;text-transform:uppercase;transition:all .4s linear;[/newclass][newclass=.bookmark a]line-height:12px;font-family:open sans condensed;color:black;font-size:11px;text-transform:uppercase;transition:all .4s linear;[/newclass][newclass=.bookmark:hover]background-color:white;[/newclass][newclass=.bookmark:hover a]color:black !important;[/newclass]
Unnur's entire complexion brightened up at the older woman's offering. One could almost hear the eagerness in her smile as she nodded twice, holding out her fork to sneak a bite or two of smoked fish at the first hint of surrender, which would come shortly after: she gently pushed the plate forward to allow Unnur easier access to it, for which the latter was grateful. An iron fork made its way to where would have been the crowned fish's belly, were it not very dead and in no need for a belly.
"Mmmm," was her initial word choice, while she still munched and gauged just how tasty this plate truly was. Syllable choice or whatever, same difference. The answer was pretty good, but Unnur couldn't give such a judgement out so easily. The smoked Magikarp had to get through several layers of her connoisseur's scrutinity before being able to acquire that title. "It's good," she would soon declare, her face tightening into a very serious-looking frown. "Though perhaps another bite would help my taste buds give a better assessment on it."
Given each of the girls' appetites, it wouldn't be a surprise for even all the food they'd ordered to run out fast. And, once that was done, it was payment time. Unnur finished off her food by licking her fork before noiselessly placing it on top of her plate. She looked up at her companion with shiny eyes and satisfied grin, and then she spoke up again, "Hold out your hand."
