For the briefest of moments, Jason would pause in confusion as he moved to take his usual seat. To be completely honest, he hadn't really thought beyond the decision to stop keeping Ricki under lockdown - it had been made, but only after taking into account everything up to that point rather than what would result from the decision itself. A rarity when it came to Jason - he was always so focused on how one thing would affect another, and it had been a mindset born from his previous life where even the smallest details had mattered. The fact that he had thought beyond that mindset, and more than that he'd done it without trying, was something that Jason recognized to be a huge step forward, but with it also came a fair amount of confusion. Exactly what or how Ricki would react wasn't something he'd thought about or really taken into account, and as the hospital patient opened her mouth but did not speak he quickly began to wonder if he had done something wrong instead. He had been fairly certain it was boredom that had resulted in Ricki's attempt to escape earlier - she was never one to sit still for long unless she had something to keep her mind occupied, but then again Jason had never really been much of an expert on why people did things, simply the fact that they did - he knew how to get certain results and reactions, but that didn't necessarily imply that he knew why it all worked, at least not to the degree the a psychologist or another expert might.
At any rate, though, much of that would turn out to be mostly his own paranoia and pessimism getting the better of him, with Jason seeing things where there wasn't anything. All things considered it looked like he had guessed right after all, and the simple act of allowing Ricki a bit more freedom until her limbs healed had been spot on. Maybe the old adage was right - you attracted more Combee with honey than you did with vinegar, and as Ricki began to dig into the food that she had originally asked him to fetch Jason made a note to remember this for future occasions.
"It's fine, you don't need to worry about me. As it is they've started giving me looks because I was stopping into the cafeteria so often, I've been eating fine."Jason said in response to Ricki's question, relaxing as the pseudo-panic attack from before quickly ebbed away. Sure, he would eat if given the chance but it was hardly hunger as much as it was stress - no exactly the most healthy of habits, and as it was Jason simply counted his blessings that her question was as specifically worded as it had been. Food wasn't the issue so much as sleep was, but for the moment he was functioning just fine without any exterior signs of the stress getting to him - Jason had always counted it as among one of his few good points that he never lied and never would, but that didn't mean he wasn't aware of how to hide things or when it was appropriate to. The last thing Ricki needed right now was to be worrying about his state of being when she was the one with a hole in her leg and arm.

I have 714 words for JASON THAM
By The Way; Eugh, terribly sorry for the wait!
Even as he assured her that she didn't need to worry and that he would be fine, Ricki still had her doubts. He was almost always a big eater unless they were on a budget. Actually, they most likely were now as it was unlikely she'd be able to be taking up any jobs for a while and Jason would probably prefer they just didn't exist until they were farther away from here. She hadn't been saving up with the intent of living off their current funds for a long period of time, but Jason didn't spend much except on food, so perhaps they were fine? She wasn't sure, and she didn't really want to think too much about the practical matter but it was probably a good idea to think about it at least a little more than she usually did.
Later, though. Right now, she was just a meal away from finally getting a breath of fresh air. Riding the high of the relief that came with the offered wheel chair, Ricki was all but ready to run out the door now. When Jason mentioned the cafeteria workers were actually giving him looks because of how often he ate, she nearly choked. A brief gag followed by a quick swallow was immediately ignored by her laughing and shaking her head at him. She looked over at him with a grin, a clear sign that she was fine. “They really started to give you looks? How often have you been going there? Five times a day?” she questioned, mostly teasing and rhetorical in nature. It was good to know he was eating at least, but he still didn't look as well as he usually did. Even if she didn't ask, she was still going to worry about him. It was just a part of the way she was really.
Part of her subconscious questioned her actions over this week. Seeing everything Jason had done, reading the files, practically memorizing some of the content, some would almost flinch just at the sight of Jason entering the room. The hands that had brought her this meal had also been the hands used to kill many people. It was a sobering thought but she quickly remedied it by reminding herself that people did change. Not all of them, but a lot of people did! She wasn't sure if she was one of them, but Jason was without a doubt, someone who changed far for the better. Looking over at the wheelchair and back to her food as she resumed eating, she took comfort in this knowledge. Not some petty fragile hope he changed, but she had absolute faith in this fact that Jason wouldn't kill again now that he was free.
She wasn't going to force herself to believe a lie, again. She still had scars from that mistake.
“Ah, so, when we do go outside, I guess we're just gonna stick to wandering around that little park area behind the hospital, right?” she questioned, looking over at Jason. During one of her previous wanderings through the hall, she'd managed to find a wall of windows that showed the back of the hospital and there had been a small park for the hospital residents that allowed them to wander the paths there. It wasn't anything huge, but it was a nice little place complete with a relatively well kept playground, the path ways were kept clear with salt and probably a few fire types to melt away the snow and ice. Thinking about it, he said she would need something warmer than the sweats she put on, but she didn't have much as far as winter wear went. Tapping her lower lip with her spoon as she thought about it, looking around, her eyes trailed over her bag before settling on an extra blanket kept on the counter. That would do the trick. When they got outside, she wondered if he'd let her get up from that wheelchair... At least to just flop back in the snow and make a snow angel. Snowballs and snowmen, it was the perfect weather and she was pretty excited just thinking about it.
She almost forgot the fact her own birthday was coming up, along with the holiday season.

NO LONGER WILL I HAVE TO REWIND THE PAST
Choking - not the reaction Jason had expected, although to be honest he hadn't really seen Ricki picking up on that statement at all. She knew how much he usually ate, and Jason had figured that it wouldn't exactly come as news that the hospital's kitchen staff knew who he was by sight after the first couple of days. Not that he had been stopping by often so much as the amount of time spent during each visit - the place was close to the hospital's entrance, and with the building's normal security in place just to stop patients from trying to leave via more creative routes it wasn't like he had to watch the roof or windows above the ground floor. Unfortunately, though, with waiting came anxiety, and when made anxious Jason typically did what he did best - he ate by habit and stocked up on energy for when he was going to need it. With at least a couple of hours spent down there each day, typically while Ricki herself was asleep, that had added up to a lot of the food that the kitchen had made gone way ahead of schedule, which meant nearly double the work for the staff.... and probably without any sort of increase in pay. Needless to say, most people wouldn't have been all too pleased by such a change in daily routine.
"Only once or twice a day, and it's not like I was doing anything I wasn't supposed to." Jason replied - an answer to Ricki's direct question at any rate. While Jason could admittedly understand where some of the irritation might have come from due to the earlier reasoning, what Jason didn't really understand was why they ha singled him out - it wasn't like the food was going to just sit there for the rest of the day, and technically speaking the hospital was making more money through the cafeteria than they normally did while he was eating there. It wasn't free, and while the kitchen staff might not have seen any immediate gains from the work it was doing the place some good - it was the same kind of symbiosis that any customer-business relationship had, both groups typically benefited from it. Then again, the earlier reasoning still kind of stood - not everyone was that rational, and in stressful jobs people tended to revert to blaming the first cause they could find for their problems. Jason just happened to be lucky enough to be that guy - wrong place, wrong time, although at this point he wasn't sure why he was even surprised by that sort of luck anymore. In any case, however, concerning the present....
Once again, the internal debate between his logical brain and every single instinct that Jason had accrued during his past decade of experience. Where Ricki might have seen a simple question, his brain went right into over-analyzing every possible risk... which, given the past few days, wasn't something that he was going to simply ignore. The thing about parks that most people knew - and probably why Ricki was asking in the first place since she wasn't stupid, far from it in fact - was that they were great for privacy, and by extension a perfect location to hide if you didn't want to be found. All things considered, though.... Jason had been nothing if not thorough during that first night, and truthfully speaking he highly doubted there were even any Rockets in the city to be concerned about. He'd kept count, and aside from that no one had been watching or tailing him over these past few days during his scarce trips out of the hospital, at least as far as he could tell - in theory, chances were it would be fine. More than that, Ricki did have her Pokemon, and the park was small enough and public enough that any real sort of disturbance would be liable to draw attention, the last thing a Rocket would want. Jason had originally been intending to stick more to the street directly outside the front of the hospital where there was a constant presence of some sort of emergency service.
"If you'd like, I don't see a reason why not." Jason answered, simply continuing to watch for a few moments as Ricki worked on finishing the food she had originally asked for, only finally moving as she neared the end of what remained on the tray to reach for the wheelchair and unfold it in preparation.
