This was that Batman moment. The one where his back was broken in half by Bain. Yes, this was the undeniable defeat from his futile's effort. This was Jylarl's demise. Although the audience would look at this as being bested physically. This was an internal battle. His physical capabilities were great, that is true. But when you are not mentally and emotionally sound - your body fails to all test. Jylarl's dilemma. His eyes shot wide open as his Hyper Beam was deflected like it never happened.
Lets not talk about that whipping tail. Ouch! Let's just not. The Archeops would slam it's rock hard tail into the torso of Jy. His eyes already pained with failure. They were now filled with even more. It's like life just kept pushing him down, down, down. His eyes circled over to Nick who had seemingly given up. The trainer's head had fallen as he began his descent. This defeat was a cycle. He could not win being and doing the same. He had to grow. Jy looked up to Bakuryuu. The only redeeming moment about this battle was Bakuryuu didn't seem him fail. He wanted to be a strong dragon like Nick's. However, he didn't have faith in Nickol - at least not properly. He had to want to win. He had to want it like Bagon's desire to fly. He had to want it!
His body laid stretched out in the sand. Not a wince nor sign of movement. This wasn't pleasurable at all. Nick returned the fallen soldier to his PokeBall and stood for a second. The two were no where near in sync. Horrible. He was speechless, he had never lost so poorly. Is this what starting anew is like? Raising Pokemon again - this is the pain? The pain of defeat. Did he have to lose like this, seriously, like this. He remained quiet and just stood looking forward at Stella and her team. Nothing to say.
Suddenly, everything became sharp, painful, piercing, and Stellar gasped, taking a deep breath as though as she had been drowning and this is her first breath of water. That motionless body....had she killed him? Had her commands killed Jylarl...a Pokemon formerly hers? She stumbled, unstable, and threw the branch aside, hands reaching up to tear at her hair.
A cough, a gasp, a wheeze. She hates hates, hates this, hates this.
Aria took two steps, and was there to catch Stellar's fall. Lily crooned sadly, paws patting Stellar's face, drenched with sweat and expression twisted into a nightmare, calm yet pained. Sam looked down, unhappy with the whole situation, as his mate joined him, a short coo, unhappy with the situation.
Of course, the Aggron took charge, since Stellar is out of commission. There's no way the two trainers could stay out here like this, and Jylarl requires medical treatment. The Aggron looked at Nick, one huge claw cupping Stellar, who seemed so small at that moment. The Aggron gestured with her other claw to follow her, and the huge beast began to walk, walk towards a certain direction. Sam held on to the Protect, moving the shield at the direction they are heading, Pluem walking beside him.
And then there's Lily, who walked over to Nick's side, bowing her head softly. Everything had gone wrong and she doesn't want him to think too badly of her trainer.
Notes
Painful day indeed. It's been awhile since Stellar had to deal with this, and it took its toll. Now Aria leads them all to the cave for recovery, would Nick follow? They need a good talk.
Clap it up for the actress over there. Unfortunately this was real - this was not staged. In his defeat, Stella was the stressed one. Why is she pulling at her hair? What is wrong with her? Nick thought as he calmly watched. Her Pokemon rallied behind her. The orchestrated catch and response was not alarming, at least for her team. The looks on their faces was not of shock, oh no. The eyes of Aria and the Archeops looked more defeated. Why was this not shocking? Their trainer just had a mild breakdown of sorts. Why was this okay? So many questions. A part of Nick wanted to continue to turn his back and leave. This was oh too dramatic for the guy. It was, now obviously, something mentally off balance about Stella. That's what he was sensing earlier and now more than ever. Then, Lily came and bowed. Oh yes, they were accustomed to their trainer acting like this. This was just so confusing. Nick recalled their outing in Accumula - Stella was happy. Or at least he thought. She had dreamy eyes and was so kind. She seemed so soft and gentle, even lending a hand to help Nick with his important decision. Now she was this - a hair jerking, cold sweat, mad woman. It does not add up. He wanted to turn around and leave so bad.
But Nick followed.
ooc - yes a long good talk. mhmm in a cave. a man and a woman together. in a cave. oh yeah.
Th journey was long and tedious, but it wasn't the sand, that was harsh.
No, it's the silence, deafening in its glory, and Stellar's Pokemon were agitated, even as they slowly reached to what seems like a pretty large cave, tucked in one corner of the desert. Going will show the remaining of Stellar's two Pokemon, her Ninetales's Will-O-Wisp keeping the place lighted up nicely, the flames dancing at the edge and far high of the cave, not harming anyone.
As they enter, the Archeops sealed the entrance with Protect to stop the sands from coming in. Her Sawsbuck was nearby, the horns sharp and glowing with Swords Dance. The Grass Pokemon had hoped over, brandishing her horns to check if it's intruders, but at the sight of Aria, the glow faded, and the Sawsbuck backed off.
Sae, the Ninetales, walked over with worry etched on her face, before a small whine by Lily alerted to the other Pokemon of the guest, a coo to say that he is a friendly one. Aria lowered Stellar to a bed of feathers, leaves and sand, covered with few cloths and a cloak, with a pillow.
While their trainer is out of commission, it was the Pokemon who took care of Nick. Aria rested by Stellar's side, while Lily walked over to Stellar's bag, which was open and has items placed neatly in one corner. The Ampharos too a revive and a potion, walking over to Nick, gesturing for him to sit and rest, and perhaps, release his Pokemon, as well? Let them rest from the situation outside, after all. The Electric Type placed the item into Nick's hands, nodding softly.
It was Sam, who walked over and held out a cup of clear water for Nick. From the way he walked it was clear where he got the water; there's a small, boiling pot, maintained by Sae, the Ninetales, and there was a few bottled water nearby.
Nick might as well use this time to think and rest, while Stellar tries to wake up from her nightmares. There was a bolt of lightning, arching over her and heading straight for her Noctowl, and before Stellar could scream, it was over, over for that poor bird, that poor Pokemon who had joined Stellar because she trusted the trainer, only to die, burnt to crisp by the Thunderbolt to her heart.
Stellar could see her hands, reaching out to catch the Noctowl's body before it drops down between the cracks of Aria's Earthquake, the Earthquake she had commanded the metal giant to use, the one that she regrets now, and as always, her hands grasp at nothing and that was her first, real loss, only feather left in her hand and she could still smell fried nerves and screams and howls and shrieks-!
Stellar woke up.
Her pink eyes wide, frozen in shock at the memory of her commands go awry, her first Pokemon death. It hurts like every fresh wound does, but this wound will never close and it sucks. The woman ran a hand over her face, before letting out a soft groan, and sitting up.
"...what time is it?"
But it wasn't her Pokemon who answered.
Notes
Adam and Eve? LOL. There, in the cave, and let Nick answer the last question, lol.
They had done some tunneling. Nick was surprised at the layout of this cave. All of Stella's Pokemon were independently performing, there was a guard, food, water, light. She made great use of her team. He would graciously take the Revive from the Ampharos and released his damaged dragon. The Vibrava's breathe was slow and his body twitched as it was repairing from the damage. To help the process, Nick would open the mouth of the Pokemon and dropped the reviving piece inside. The medication would instantaneously almost finish the healing process as Jy awoke.
Revived
His eyes looked around and he saw his hated enemies. His wings began to flap as he attempted to rise. His movement would be ceased by Nick's thrust. His eyes were cold, as he looked at Jy. Without a word, the man had conveyed his seriousness to the Pokemon. Although Jylarl was larger and stronger than Nick - he understood he let the man down. He would stay put. Surrounding the beast would be Nick's team - Al, Tanker, Dashar, and Yonko. They all would be released to the side of their fallen soldier. Each one had a look of compassion, except Dashar who was still quite turned off by the Pokemon surrounding her. Nick did not bother to release Cero, he didn't want to start a war in here.
They are watching over the recovering Jylarl
"It's time for you to explain." Nick said as he sat in the corner, across from his team of Pokemon that were watching over his Vibrava. He was still indifferent towards Stella and her Pokemon right now. He had not said a word, just a humble thank you for the service they were providing. Seriously, now was the time for Stella to talk.
ooc - lol it's time. wink wink. lol too many pokemon around watching
Then, she sighed. She should have figured that her Pokemon were nice and polite enough to bring her friend over here, though that term is somewhat shaky now. She was trembling lightly; the nightmare was taking it's toll, but her breath is steady, and her pink eyes are full of life, a reminder that she's actually breathing.
Aria gave her a cup of water, and she gratefully took it, drinking to quench her dry throat, though there is a bitter taste in the aftermath, for the confession about to come.
"...what do you want to know?" she asked, turning to face him, hands clenching on to the cloak that serves as her blanket, "What are you looking to know?" She fiddled with the cup briefly, before taking a deep breath.
Then, she smiled, but it wasn't happy.
"...Am I not allowed to train hard?" she questioned, not mocking, but her tone was a sort of childish awe, curiosity of a child, "I love battles, after all." Aria grunted, reaching out to take the cup away from Stellar before she uses the object somehow to hurt herself.
"...If there's one thing I can answer you is that I'm not preparing for anything. I can't just leave those habits behind, however." As if to demonstrate, her eyes took a quick sweep at Nick's team, a calculating glint in her eyes. In her mind already she's forming a plan how to take them down, if it ever comes to that.
I mean she loses it out of no where, she has some violent impulses, breaks into a cold sweat. Sounds like drug use. Nick was really fishing for the answer. He wanted her to spit it out, but like a brat she was doing her best to hold the truth back. He fiddled with his thumb as he weighed his options. He was torn between how to handle this. Shit, he was torn to why he was handling this. Nickol would need to tread carefully, because this place could turn into a fight club honestly. His hazel eyes looked over at his circle of Pokemon. It was great that they had a sense of team and unity right now - Jy needed to know he didn't have to do it alone. Hell, he couldn't do it alone. However, for now the young man remained in his corner, sitting as he spoke. He didn't bother to answer her prior questions. There was no need to answer them honestly, plus he didn't know what to ask. Her past was a mystery, so where would he start? He knew he had to break an emotional wall in this woman. He could ask all the right questions, but someone whose Pokemon rallied like this so normally around her, she would probably lie. And he would only have one option and that is to believe her. Stella would have to come to the opening on her own.
ooc - let the therapy begin. lol nick is gonna harbor some feelings for stella now since they are about to go through this. poor guy
"Drugs?" she questioned, a weak smile, "If only it was that easy." Her hand reached out to pat Aria, soothing the metal giant, who laid down by her makeshift bed. The Aggron was not worried about Nick, not at all, her guarded stance is for Stellar, if she ever lose it, it's Aria who stops her. Had always been, ever since Stellar's first blood. In fact, the only other one in the room that looks tense enough to jump between Nick and Stellar if anything happens is the Sawsbuck, who's ears are perked and stance straight and serious.
The other have a more neutral stance. The fossil birds were perched in one corner, working on something that looked like cleaning the meat of their hunt, probably readying it for cooking. Sae was with them. The Ampharos, Lily, stood carefully in one corner, quietly approving of Nick's team, who seems united.
Stellar, on the other hand, was feeling a little light. She have made that promise to herself, to tell the truth, and if whatever happens, she will regret it later. For now, though, she doesn't feel the need to lie. There will be nothing good from lying, unless it means saving her life.
But this is for Nick, and in that sense, she owe him to tell the truth.
Casually, she placed both of her hands in front of her, as to show she's not harmful, for now. "...Nick, you're an experienced trainer...but tell me, have you seen war?" It was a curious question. Maybe Nick would know something, after all. "...The region you are from, have you seen war?...have you killed people, before?"
Notes
It may take forever so Stellar to be vulnerable enough to fall n love, however. Poor Nick.
Was Stella hearing herself? Addiction to drugs - is easier than what she been through. Yep, this might have been the one time Nick has took a bite of more than he can chew. He would rise and walk over to check on Jylarl who was recovering well it seemed. He did not want to be rude and leave, for Stella has done more help than harm. She healed his Infernape, and now has revived his Vibrava. Ugh, only if he didn't owe her his kindness. This little whatever they had going on in no way helped his goal of becoming a member of the Elite Four. He was intensely focus on reaching his goal, as a man when you have something to achieve and prove it's hard to deviate from that. And when you do you usually end up in a mess like this one - with a scarred woman.
"No. No blood on my hands - not from war. I have a past, but it's nothing that tarnishes my soul." Nick said looking down. His eyes were not fixed on the cave's earthen ground but on the pouch which held his Scizor's capsule. He remembered all the things Cero had done for him - so many times where the young man had been in the wrong places. He has seen death, everyone probably has. But he was curious to what degree Stella has seen. Hearing her ask about war and murder he inferred that she or maybe someone close was involved.
He began a slow walk towards the girl. His hazel eyes, now in season with the arrival of autumn. His ivory strands were dull from the lack of lighting and trip through the desert. He rubbed his hand through his hair as he approached, you could see grains falling to the ground occasionally. He would definitely need a good wash. His trench coat was closed, a small droplet of sweat slithered down his chin. With all these bodies enclosed in this desert's cave it was getting hot. He did not have his sweater on under the trench coat - so to be appropriate he kept the garment on.
"So you survived a war, eh? Killed a lot of people, that's your issue?"
Nick's index finger pointed at her open hands. He stopped his travel maybe a foot or so away from Stella, now they were a little closer. More real. More intimate. What little, pink-eyed girl puts her hands up? That is standard for being arrested to ensure you did not have weaponry. This girl had six Pokemon around her, but she figured it would be relaxing to show Nick her hands. That was odd. Nick immediately got the feeling that she has used her hands to kill or murder. Did he feel threatened? Not at all. Despite her story, he still felt safe. He didn't believe Stella could kill him - even with being as crazy as he thinks she is. His face was blank as he delivered his statement, was the clue game done?
He's so, so kind, Stellar thought, as Nick walked over to check on Jy. So very kind, and it makes her guilty that she's about to unload quite a bit of truth to him.
"You're very lucky," she told him honestly, "Blood is a heavy thing to bear, to see." She could feel them in her hands, at times, heavy, metallic and silent warnings of things past and things to come. A thoughtful glance at the man who came nearer, and Stellar continued smiling, hollow and weak. "Would you consider surviving through a war as living at all?" A philosophical question.
Stellar held out her hands for Nick, and they seems so small, gentle, and almost delicate. Look closer, and one could see nicks and cuts from hos she handled a knife. The woman herself fancies that if you look even more closely, you could see the red stain that never really washed away.
Stellar tilted her head lightly. "I wouldn't say it's much of an issue, honestly," a light chuckle, "There are nightmares, habits that got left over. Those things tend to screw with a person." A kind of casual tone, but it sounds liek defensive casual, like she's trying to make it so she doesn't care, but it's hard not to. She flopped back on her makeshift bed, lying down, holding her hands upwards. "...Would you go mad, if you like battling so much but when you do it, the other opponent ends up dead? Step out of the line and you have another life on your hands. Stay to close to the rules, and you die, instead." She turn to face him.
"It could have easily happened."
A glance at Jylarl, a hint of sorry in her eyes. Killed, to be killed, feel the madness driving you to the ends of the earth. The times when you give an order because you were so angry, so very furious, and all that was left was blood and dust.
Notes
Long headache for Nick. He's never going to see her in the same way again. LOL.
Nick cared about Stella. That was the bottom line. Unfortunately at this point in his life - he did not have the time or capacity to heal her wounds. Right now there was a barrier. It was true what they said, it's a thin line between love and hate. Right now from Nick's stand point what could he really say to her. How could he help? She was a murderer, how she felt and what she knew - he could not place. He was not into psychology at all, she probably needed to see a Hypno to start talking. Then it came to him.
His hazel eyes remained clear and unmoved by the cuts over her hand. This was becoming a bit much by the second. You would think she cut herself. However, he did not catch the red stain he did not see that closely, or at least care to look that closely. He was about finished with digging this hole. "Sounds like a lot. You didn't ask for my help, so I have no advice on your issues. I am here for you - but what is it that you want from me?" Nick asked. The question was just a filler, but Stella wouldn't know. Nick cared about Stella. That was the bottom line. Despite his front, he wanted to try something. A little intricate, but maybe he could help his friend. He would have to enlist some specialist with the psyche but hopefully it would work.
ooc - soooooooooooooooooooo i am going to try to make our relationship as tragic and ironic as possible. nick is (maybe) gonna go hunting for drowzee / hypno and maybe a ghost and try to put you under a trance and eat your bad memories away lol. crazy i know. very crazy. but a side quest for us. lol and is there literally a red stain on her hands?
Stellar tilted her head at him, wondering quietly. Strong enough to be not afraid of her, and that's enough, she suppose. For now, that's enough.
"That is all I need to know, as of now," she affirmed, "I will always be haunted, that is me. And if you want to stay, I'll be glad." She blinked. "I like you as a friend, you know. It's been wonderful, even if it's only so short of a time before we came to this." The smell of the desert is helping her calm down more than ever, this is her home, her comfort. Tonight, she wants to watch the stars.
She closed her eyes, her hand reaching out to pat Aria's hide, something soothing, as always. "...what do you want from me, though?" she asked. If he wants an eager, innocent trainer, that's not something she could give, and they could easily break off ties, right here, right now. Make that the last few meetings didn't happen.
The cold is descending upon them, temperature gradually dropping, sandstorm slowly dying down. That's what happens at night, after all, temperature dropping drastically, it's almost freezing. The Will-O-Wisp hanging about the cave grew brighter, Sae expending more energy to keep the place lit and warm.
Notes
Oh oops, sorry for the late reply. I kinda expected you to reply my pm first.
Nothing but the Herdier in him. Nick looked down at the tender woman his eyes escaping her face and outlining her body as she asked, "...what do you want from me, though?" He quickly snatched his focus back, he couldn't let this desire get a grip on him. I mean, he's twenty-two he knows where this road leads. He has been there and right now he could see his names in lights. He could see televised exhibition matches. He could see a little ten year old boy, coloring at his desk, while the TV was on. That one second the boy looks up and sees two Pokemon battling! He see a Krookodile, he sees a Flygon - and he just watches. Then he sees a tall, nice lookin', young man standing there exerting all the charming macho he can exert without being too serious or unbelievable. That real moment, where the boy sees strong Pokemon, a strong male trainer, he can relate to and look up too. Someone real who will be there, who will give back. That was Nickol's dream - to reach the top and help the next generation of trainers aspire to be more.
But that had nothing to do with Stella's question or his desire to have relations with her right now. Thanks for the extra heat - it was needed. "Alligator - seal this place." With the temperature dropping and her Archeops doing a phenomenal job at keeping the sands and wind out Nick felt it was his turn to chip in. In front of the transparent barrier - Al would slam his hands into the ground. The sandy floor would began to whirl almost magically! Grains whipped and formed into a barred door - all thanks to Earth Power. That would allow the Archeops to take a break, although a small breeze would be let inside. A thin wall of sand would be formed in front of the door to minimize the cold winds, they would get nothing. Al would prop himself against the wall of the cavern as he closed his eyes and crossed his arms. The door and wall could easily be opened and closed thanks to the croc's power.
Stellar's Archeops pair let out surprise chirps each when the Earth Power was thrown up, though Sam did let go of the Protect, reluctantly. Aria let out a soft grunt; the Aggron and the rest felt a light tinge of uncomfortable, because the entrance and exit is not of their making, but it's not something they can't break down by force, if necessary.
Sam nodded at Al as thanks. While he protect is not much to hold up, and it serves as great practice, it's the thought that counts, after all. He went back to the dinner they were preparing, by now Plume stirring a large pot of meat porridge, a fire crackling under merrily. Sae increase the flames by a small Flamethrower, and then walked over before setting up a small campfire in the middle of the cave. Her Will-O-Wisps died down, casting everything to the darkness for a moment, before a light shone out again, this time far more powerful and almost a reminder to normal electricity at modern buildings.
Only fitting, since the light came from the tail of Stellar's Ampharos, a Pokemon famed for lighting up a lighthouse on its own. Lily casted the light, with a cloth wrapped around the orb on her tail as to prevent burning people's eyes straight on.
And Stellar blinked, before sighing softly.
"...I can give you that much," she answered, pushing herself up and slowly sliding off her makeshift bed. The tension died down considerably, and she drop a kiss on her Agron's helmet, before moving towards her Archeops.
They were scooping out porridge to small, coconut like bowl, enough for a meal and definitely good to go for a refill. The pot they were cooking it in is huge, after all. Plume handed Stellar two bowls, and the girl took it with a quiet thanks.
"Here, Nick, dinner," she handed one bowl to him. Behind her, the Archeops pair distributed the meals, from Stellar's pokemon to Nick's pokemon.
Nick took the bowl of porriage and would kneel down to eat. His Pokemon too were enjoying the hearty nutrition, he on the other hand felt this was quite ironic. In his pouch were capsules that contained the most powerful creatures on the planet. A PokeNav, a wireless navigational system, which he had finally acquired in this recent trip to Hoenn. A PokeGear that was given to him by his father when he went home to Kanto. A small wrist piece that could connect him to any in the world. He had these amazing technological advances on him, yet he was sitting in a cave. Eating porridge. Out of some rough, coconut shaped bowl. This was just too ironic for the young man.
As he took his first bite he began designing his quarters - at the league of course. He had never visited the Pokemon League of Kanto, his hometown. He was currently in Hoenn, so maybe he would take a visit to Ever Grande. The league was a grand facility used to facilitate the League's tournament to determine the Champion of a region every three years. Although every region handled the Elite Four differently, in regards to their participation with the Pokemon Association's activity - he knew they all had chambers at the league. His chamber could be used for exhibition matches - or for winners of the League to battle him. He did not want a cave, he wanted something contemporary. Something modern, and fresh. I want something clean - and cool. But it has to be earthy. Maybe I can do something where they take an art quiz about landscapes! Yeah and then when they get to the top floor or area - battle! Nick thought prematurely. There were a lot of kinks to work out.
As he finished fantasizing his food was finished. He wasn't sure on whether he enjoyed it or whether it was just a meal. All his Pokemon had full bellies, laying down and resting. The little ones were so funny. Nick looked over to Stella who was now perked up. Soon they would have to sleep - Nick was curious to see her sleeping situation. He did not have a sleeping bag, maybe she did. "Where will we sleep?" He asked. He needed to know now. Then again, it's not like he could leave the desert tonight. Without Bakuryuu - he wasn't flying nowhere. His Vibrava was too weak right now to fly him to the nearest center. He was stuck here - with a woman. All night. In the cold. Yep.
