We're pushing through the warped wind Outstripping the cold sky Nevertheless, we still continue to wander
Lavaridge, simply put, was not a big town. Little more than a very small community and maybe two dozen buildings nestled at the base of Mt. Chimney, not much tended to happen there aside from trainers traveling to and from the town to challenge the Gym Leader, and aside from that the only real attraction that made the town known to the outside world were the naturally occurring hots prings present as a result of the volcano itself. As a result things that tended to stand out at all also tended to attract a lot of attention, and as Elinda slowly wandered into the town from its eastern border she found that she was not the exception to the rule. Most people arriving to the town came from Mauville to the south - generally clean and cared for, either as trainers just recently having left the communal areas in the Pokemon Center or with colleagues on business retreats. Elinda, however, was neither - the crimson red of her coat dulled to a brick color by the dust and sand that covered her from head to toe, her hair likewise dulled and eyes still covered by her Go Goggles that were reflecting the glint of the morning sun, many of the locals who noticed her couldn't help but glance over as she slowly made her way towards the center of the town.
Well, she'd made it. She'd crossed the Hoenn desert more or less overnight and in one piece, and all that was left was to find the Rilleto inn. At least that was how she thought the name was spelled... well, maybe not, but even remembering the name at all was something of an achievement in her book, never mind the general location. Visiting the Pokemon Center first might have been a good idea - a cold shower sounded fucking amazing right about then - but then again, she saw no point in putting it off. The place was essentially a local resort, so she saw no reason she couldn't just relax once she was there. It'd be worth it, anyways - she could only imagine what the look on Janelle's face would be when she showed up! Well.... assuming it was preceded by a hard, blunt object. A shame, really, the other woman had zero sense of humor.
Stopping for a moment to pull out her PokeNav, Elinda began thumbing through the applications on the device before arriving at the map function and zooming in on Lavaridge, the town map lighting up with additional script as it began tagging local businesses and places of interest near her. Pokemon Center, no, Pokemart, no, local herb shop, no, the Gym, no - ah, there it was. Turning the electronic off after studying the street map for several more seconds, Elinda turned to quickly cross the dirt street before moving down another road towards her destination.
This wasn’t really a part of her original plan, not in the slightest. Go to Orre, take on the gyms, possibly become the champion, or maybe a gym leader, that had been her intentions. Things went awry, though. A run in with a group of thugs leading to her being saved by a treeko and his trainer had eventually brought Rain here. Rather than the barren wasteland that was Orre, she was brought to the beautiful and lively Hoenn, and she wasn’t really complaining. It wasn’t like she really had any plans, other than a basic idea of what she wanted to do. Besides, she could still work towards her true goals, no matter the region. As long as she wasn’t just sitting around and letting her life slip away, she was pleased.
With her travel to Hoenn, Rain, obviously, had to have some sort of reason for the sudden change. The simple reason was her current travel companion, Ryusuke Ugumi. He was a slightly younger trainer, but he was way more experienced than herself. One of his Pokémon had rolled off into the night and some tracking had brought the duo to Hoenn. With the move to Hoenn, the young lady had decided to check to see if any other her relatives were in the region. While she didn’t want her mother to find out, she knew she had a few family members that wouldn’t rat her out, and they’re just the ones she called.
Through some chatter and gossip, it was revealed that Kanoa was currently the only Hasan in the region that didn’t really have any set plans. So, she had called him up and explained her new scenario. The moment she mentioned she was heading to Hoenn, he demanded to know where and when. She mentioned Lavaridge soon and without any more questioning, Kanoa promised to be there and hung up. It wasn’t until a few minutes ago that Rain had come to discover why he was suddenly acting so odd. In her arms, a decorative dark gray, orange, and silver egg was being clutched protectively to her chest. He’d given her the egg as a reward for pursuing her dream, but much to her dismay, it was yet another type her mother had warned her about.
A houndour? She already had troubles with her spinarak, something she’d tried her best to hide from Ryusuke. Her acting skills were currently helping her out, but she could only play brave for so long. Lost in thought, the young new trainer wasn’t exactly focusing where she was going. All she noticed was the time, before she panicked and started to try and pick up pace, knowing she was supposed to be meeting Ryusuke in a few minutes. Her picked up pace only ended up with her colliding into the back of a blonde woman. Yelping and falling back, the egg flew up into the sky and Rain panicked. She quickly kicked back, using her years of gymnastics to smoothly roll back and up onto her feet. She stumbled back and caught the flying houndour egg with a little juggle before tugging it close.
Her stumble and roll had caused most of her stuff to roll out of her bag, her Onix mostly sitting there with a disappointed dead pan locked on his trainer. She scrambled to pick up the supplies, inwardly screaming as she grabbed her spinarak’s pokeball and shoved it back in her bag without a second glance. It would be an understatement to say she looked like she just saw a ghost. Having a mini-heart attack, she quickly looked the egg over before looking up at the woman she had crashed into. She shuffled forward nervously, hesitantly calling out “Uh, s-sorry! I wa-was in a rush and di-didn’t look where I was go-going. Are you okay?!”

We're pushing through the warped wind Outstripping the cold sky Nevertheless, we still continue to wander
Having just crossed the street and caught a fleeting glimpse of the Kageroo Inn's roof over the tops of the buildings ahead, Elinda had only just started to pick up her own pace when she felt something bump into her from behind - something that normally would have simply bounced back without affecting the trainer in the slightest short of it being a projectile along the lines of a brick, but after crossing a desert in only a few hours and very likely dehydrated due to the lack of water since Lilycove it was easily enough to nearly trip Elinda as she began moving forward. Luckily, though, her reflexes weren't shot, and the trainer simply took another few steps forward to keep her balance, spinning around to see what had collided with her - another woman, probably around her late teens or early twenties, but what Elinda wasn't expecting to see was her already up on her feet as if she'd never fallen to begin with.
"Heeey, quick reflexes there!" Elinda quipped, a grin plastered across her face and the sun glinting off of her Go Goggles to obscure her eyes again as she quickly took in information, casually glancing over the other person's scattered belongings on the road. You could learn a lot about a person just from a cursory look at what they did or didn't carry with them, and it was a skill Elinda picked up a long time ago - when it came to League challenges even the slightest advantage could lead to a huge payoff, and being able to predict what your opponent might or might not do was invaluable. Not that it mattered in this case, but Elinda took what practice she could when the opportunity presented itself. Most of it, frankly, was rather disappointing - things that were rather bland or uninteresting in nature, and while some of it admittedly looked expensive it wasn't really anything that caused the girl to catch Elinda's interest as a person. At least, that was, until she noticed the only orb shaped object among the bunch - a Pokeball of all things, containing a Pokemon that Elinda was very familiar with. An Onix? Not at all what she would have expected someone who presented themselves as she did to carry with them, although that was the point at which the older woman noticed the egg that she was carrying. A Houndour?
"Wouldn't happen to be a trainer, wouldja?" Elinda asked, grin widening a bit. She had to admit, she was a bit interested in the other girl's story now - an Onix wasn't the kind of Pokemon you just up and gave someone running an errand, it was far too big for that. The only people who really had those were trainers and people who needed to excavate things, and this girl clearly wasn't the latter of the two. How long had the girl had it, though? Elinda couldn't quite held but feel that there wasn't much of a connection between the two, not after seeing the Onix's expression as the girl began to gather her things up, stuffing the red and white ball back into her bag. Recently traded, maybe, or a gift from a more accomplished trainer and this girl was brand new to the game, not possessing the badges needed to control it without going through the effort of earning its respect another way? Nah, the Inn could wait - this was much more interesting.
Rather than answering Rain’s question about the woman’s well-being, she was the target of praise for her reflexes. The words both baffled and pleased the trainer. It had been a while since she’d received praise of sorts, something she’d been used to getting quite often back when she was a coordinator. Rather than making any sort of obvious plea for attention, and hopefully more compliments, though, the young trainer merely gave a small nod and thanks at the words. Her focus stayed on trying to gather back up her things and promptly shove them back into her bag. Her Onix was less than pleased to be swept into the bag with her Cacnea.
She finally managed to get the last of her things in the bag, before rising back up to her full height. The younger of the duo gazed up at Elinda, and paused at just how psychotic she appeared at the moment. With the goggles covering her face, and the woman’s wild grin, Rain quickly felt unnerved by who she was staring at. Granted, it wasn’t that difficult to get Rain anxious, thanks to her own cowardice. She tried her best to hide her current anxiety behind a smile, though. If there was anything Rain was grateful for back from her coordinator days, it was the fact she had been taught how to act.
The strange woman proceeded to go on and ask her if she happened to be a trainer, in which case, Rain merely smiled nervously. “Er, well… Yes, I am” she confessed, looking down at the egg to carefully shift it in her arms. Making sure she had a firm, but gentle, grip on her Houndour to be, Rain gazed up at Elinda once more. Every time she looked up at this woman, though, she almost seemed crazier than the last time she looked at her. Maintaining a calm external appearance, Rain inwardly worked on soothing the panic in her head. “But, I’m uh… Pretty new to training, actually. I just started about a week ago, heh” she informed, starting to side step so she could go around Elinda. “What gave it away? Are you a trainer, too?” she asked, hoping to use the conversation as a means of distraction.
It wasn’t so much that Rain didn’t enjoy socializing, as she did enjoy conversations. The young woman just found herself on edge around this strange traveler. If she spoke to her, she could take the chance to get into a position to pass the woman and carry on. A simple ‘well, I have to go now’ would do just the trick if she hurried along right afterwards. Rain began to make her way around Elinda, inwardly hoping Ryusuke wouldn’t be mad that, by this moment, she was definitely late for the meet up time. Maybe he’d just go on and check in without her and message her about which room they were staying in? She didn’t really care what he did; she just hoped he wouldn’t get mad at her for being late, again.

We're pushing through the warped wind Outstripping the cold sky Nevertheless, we still continue to wander
Ha! Knew it! It was nice to know that she still had some measure of skill in learning things about people from just a glance - always a useful trick to have, as pointed out before. What to do, though, what to do.... as she'd thought before, Elinda was intrigued by the new trainer, although that in itself was a generalization. She was always interested when it came to rookies - they were the next generation, after all, the ones who would take up the reins and the roles of their predecessors in only so many years' time, and watching them was always an interesting experience. In a way, it was almost like looking into both the past and the future to come - a reminder of who Elinda herself and other trainers her age had once been, young, inexperienced, but at the same time it was a glimpse at what the future held, and at how things would develop over time. Most of that, though, was only what she could see from watching them battle, or actually competing against them directly. In some cases it was possible from watching them simply interact with their Pokemon, sure - trainers who shared tighter bonds typically had a bit of an advantage in flexibility and stamina, after all - but this trainer wasn't one of them. She seemed nervous even around her own Pokemon, companions that should have made her feel at ease, safe, secure, at least in a public street like this if nothing else. Nope, this was one of those occasions where a field test was required.
"That I am! And on that note, how would you feel about a friendly challenge? Nothing major, just a one on one battle, one Pokemon each? Who knows, you might learn something!" Elinda replied, voice cheerful as she reached up to finally pull the goggles off of her head, revealing the dark red irises hidden beneath them - and as Rain began to take the chance to subtly disengage and pass Elinda, however, the older woman would simply attempt to drape an arm over the shorter trainer's shoulders and try to turn her around and towards the open street, intending to guide her to the open space. Relatively few people, and hopefully wide enough that the little spat wouldn't cause any damage to the nearby buildings. Maybe. If they were lucky.
Ah, to hell with it, she had nothing to worry about - she'd hold back, it wasn't like she was going to go full out against a greenhorn.

We're pushing through the warped wind Outstripping the cold sky Nevertheless, we still continue to wander
Over the last seventeen or so years of his life, Ryusuke had been called many things - apathetic, perceptive, intelligent, a bit of an asshole, occasionally a selfish prick, some of said things positive, others...... not so much. Who is was speaking did make something of a difference as Ryusuke did not treat everyone equally, something that he would be the first to admit - after all, some people were just plain up assholes and deserving of the bullshit he fed them - but if there was one thing that he would agree with, a label that he had no problem at all living up to, it was that of being persistent to the point of being a royal pain in the ass. More than anything else, that was what was driving Ryusuke at that current moment - with only a week gone by, he'd been to Orre for all but a day, boarded a ship back out of the region, that time with a tag along, and arrived in the one place he had told himself he wouldn't be going back to for a long, long while.
What the teen didn't get, though, was the initial cause of it all - namely, Metagross losing his shit and making a run for it. While the Steel type had never really been much for listening, at least not as far as Ryusuke was concerned, the blond had still marked the Pokemon as probably the most even headed of the group - as far as he could tell the Pokemon didn't really have much in line with an ego of any sort, and generally just went along with things as they happened. Simply put, he had not a fucking clue as to what had set the Pokemon off, or why the thing had made a beeline back to Hoenn - evidently he'd gone back to the house in Lilycove as made evident by the message his dad had left on the 'Nav, but the Pokemon hadn't stayed there long. Following him hadn't been all that difficult, either - the Pokemon hadn't made any attempt to use any discretion once he was free, and people tended to notice a giant flying block of metal.
After almost a week of following the thing's trail, though, it ended in Lavaridge - a place well known for its tourist industry despite the small size of the town, and while Ryusuke had never been there as a kid he'd most certainly heard of it while growing up in Hoenn. What Metagross was doing there, he had no idea, but after asking around a bit it seemed like the Pokemon hadn't left the town yet. At least not by air - it was entirely possible that he was traveling by foot now for the sake of discretion, but without any further evidence it was at least a place to start looking. All he and the rookie needed now was a base camp of sorts, a place to rest and work from while they looked. With a place called the Kageroo Inn being one of the cheaper locations in town, it made the most sense to stay there while they conducted their search. Climbing up the last few steps leading to the Inn's front door, Ryusuke paused for a moment before reaching for the handle and entering the building's lobby.
Meanwhile, towards the back of the inn, a large blue, metallic boulder would shift a bit in one of the resort's outdoor baths, sending small waves of water lapping up over the edge of the stone basin. With almost three days spent flying nonstop since making landfall in Hoenn, Metagross needed a break - his species could fly, yes, but they had not evolved to do it for extended periods of time or particularly fast. Long story short, he'd worn himself out for the first time in a long, long time - more or less what he got for not staying in shape and battling regularly, sure, but he still had a long way to go until he reached Devon's headquarters in Rustboro city on Hoenn's western coast. Shifting a bit again, the Pokemon suddenly became aware that he was being watched, and as he opened his dinner plate sized crimson eyes he saw a human standing in the building's entrance, towel wrapped around his midsection - at least for a few seconds. As Metagross began to shift and turn in place a bit to get a better look at the new arrival, the man didn't waste a moment before fleeing back into the building, slamming the door shut behind him.
His loss - it wasn't like Metagross would've cared if he had to share the bath, it might've been a tad cramped but there would have still been enough room to be comfortable for a couple of other humans or smaller Pokemon. Shutting his eyes again, the Steel type settled into place as the hot liquid warmed his metallic hide.
It'd been a pretty slow day so far for the Kageroo Inn, which was a god send in itself after the binge of retirement parties followed up by, what Ronnie had assumed was, the biggest wedding ever to be hosted there. Some four hundred people packed into all the rooms, dining area's, veranda and spring was an experience she never wanted to relive again or anytime soon. Staying up all night swapping laundry around to be sure that guests had clean towels and napkins the next day was for the birds. Not to mention horrible for the hot spring with everyone's body oils and skin and hair chilling out in it. She shuddered heavily letting her eyes fall hooded and mouth open in disgust mentally reliving the four hours she spent skimming the top of the water off. She even found a toupe! Some people were just awful.
"Ronnie! You mind coming back here and helping me with the vending boxes?" called her father, Andie from the back room. "Yeah I'm coming." she said sliding off the stool in her blue summer kimono, yukata if you wanted to get technical with it. It wasn't nothing special, just a thin dark blue with white squares arranged in the shape of diamonds speckled on it and a yellow Obi done up in a folded bow in the back. Her mother said it made the Inn look more professional if they all played the part. Ronnie felt that it was just some secret form of child abuse in disguise. Sighing heavily she left the front desk and turned to the left heading back down the side hall where the office, storage room and back door entry was.
She came to a stop just outside the store room where her father sat on a box bow legged in his own yukata of navy blue with white bamboo covering over it in straight lines and his tabi sandals. "What cha need?" she asked staring the pen he had poised in his mouth bobbing around while staring at a clipboard. Without even looking up he shoved a box with his foot over towards her letting it slide across the floor stopping at her feet. "Can you take that out to the front? It needs to go in the machine over by the game room." Ronnie looked down at the box opening the lid to peek inside of what new snack was ordered this time. "Aww man you got rid of the pizza flavored nachos." Her dad looked up at her finally seeing her face of disappointment. "Your mother said they weren't appropriate snack foods." Ronnie lifted her head up as she picked up the box leaning backwards slightly to counter the weight giving him a flat look. "Yeah but extra cheesy Cheetos and Thin Mints are just fine." Andie Rillito lifted a slightly ticking brow at his daughter that was the spitting image of him as a child, except more round faced and cuter, like her mother. "You lied and said they messed up the order again didn't you." she accused making the pen fall out of his mouth and down into the box of packing peanuts. "I knew it!" she seethed just as the bells chimed signaling the front door opening. Ronnie stepped back and leaned out of the room unable to see anything but the brightness of the lobby filling with daylight. "Be right there!" she called out and looked back at her dad. "You are so not getting any favors from me when she's on her next rampage." Ronnie told him and stalked off back to the front carrying her box and going behind the counter.
Walking back behind the front desk she immediately started the standard greeting. "Welcome to the Kageroo Inn, how can I-" Setting the box down on her seat she turned to look at the guest and found her voice dying in her throat. Many people came in through that door of all shapes, sizes, and attitude but never many of the same age group. She looked at him in awestruck wonder from his long blond hair pulled back into a braided ponytail down to his brilliant red coat that hung loosely around him like a cape. "Ah ah" her voice cracked as she blinked her large Dravite colored eyes at him in owlish wonder. He stared at her for a moment waiting on her to finish as he quirked a brow at her.
Ronnie felt her forehead start to break out into a sweat as she remained in stunned awe. Her mind working on reviving her unconscious voice function with smelling salts. Until then her inner self was working with holding up cue cards behind her eyes of +10. Finally something something in her snapped, or maybe it was the sound of the employee door clacking shut. 'WE GOT POWER BACK!' came the cry from her voice box that echoed up into her skull. "How can I help you?" she breathlessly whispered as if it was a secret to be shared only between the two of them. The only thing running through her mind was 'A wild Adonis Appears!' Followed by a list of inappropriate functions such as Closet, Second Towel Room, Hand Feed, and Wash Back.
Meanwhile her mother Janelle was quickly rushing to the scene of the main bath to see what was wrong. Heaven help Ronelle Rillito if she was the one sneaking in Pokemon again. That girl wouldn't be able to sit down for a month! Moving out onto the veranda she stood there staring out the steaming bath making note that despite her fury the bath was very well cleaned and the water had gone back to it's milky teal. Maybe three weeks of being unable to sit would be better for her wayward daughter. That's when she spotted it. A new addition looking almost like an island in the center of the bath. "Shoo!" she called out from the side moving too and fro to try and see it's face. "Go on! Shoo! Out!" she hissed before grabbing the scrubbing broom and leaning out over to prod at it.
Following Rain’s attempt to keep Elinda distracted long enough before she could go, the older woman seemed to go right for the bait. The potentially crazy woman began to explain that she was indeed a trainer. Well, Rain could work with that, and she was about to start asking some questions to keep Elinda distracted in the meantime, but she never got the chance to offer these distractions. The older and much more experienced trainer had suddenly proposed a challenge. Surely any other rookie would be very eager to start a battle any time anyplace, but Rain was clearly unsettled by the offer.
Despite having started travelling around with an experienced trainer who could teach her the ropes, she hadn’t had a chance to really learn anything. Well, nothing that she had had a chance to see firsthand on battlefields or the like. No, Rain had only received lectures so far from her friend about the Dos and Don’ts of travelling. Her once over packed bags had been brought down to more selective gear, and her account being managed by her parents was mostly untouched except for the necessities. Since she hadn’t really done anything this week, Rain hadn’t had a chance to make any money as of yet. One may wonder why she hadn’t actually been working with her team, and it was simply because she hadn’t had a chance. The past week was spent on a wild goose chase after Ryusuke’s Metagross, as he called it, deciding to run away for some reason?
Before Rain could dismiss her offer and evacuate, she was trapped. An arm draped around her shoulders as if they were old buddies, Rain panicked slightly. She offered a laugh, forcing back her nerves and clearing her throat. “Oh no, no, I really shouldn’t” she quickly informed, stepping away from Elinda in hopes of escaping her grip. “I uh… I haven’t actually battled anyone, yet, so I couldn’t possibly waste your time with that. I haven’t really even had much a chance to um… Tr-Train my team” she added, glancing up to see her destination was so close, but so far away. With an internal frustrated sigh, Rain looked up at Elinda and offered a sweet smile. “My friend who is teaching me the ropes is waiting for me. He isn’t the most patient guy in the world, and it’d be a bad idea to keep him waiting, y’know?” she questioned, oh so desperate to dodge the bullet.
“Uh… Ma-Maybe some other time, though?” Rain offered in a final attempt to get the woman to leave her alone.

Oho? Another trainer waiting for her? In Lavaridge? A town that just happened to be fairly out of the way, renowned for its hotspring resorts, and said other trainer just happened to be male? As Elinda's arm fell across the shoulders of the other younger trainer and began to guide her towards the largely empty street where their battle would take place, a sly grin that had absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming scuffle began to make itself known on the veteran's face. And to think she had been planning to stretch this out and make it easy on the other trainer in an attempt to help teach her a few tricks.... no, she couldn't do that now. Not when she had a guy waiting for her. Ah, how it was to be young, and for a moment Elinda was reminded of her own travels when she was that age. No, that wouldn't do at all - she'd make this one quick, but give her a fighting chance. At least the greenhorn would stand a chance of learning something that way, and failures were often just as instructional as successes, after all!
"Not going to help train them up if you just sit back and think about it! Battling other trainers is just as important, and probably the fastest way to do it - there's no better teacher than experience!" Elinda replied, voice cheery as could be as she led Rain where she was to stand in the street before finally releasing the rookie and moving at a swift jog to her own position before the other trainer could process what she'd said. It'd been far, far too long since Elinda had actually had a battle just for the hell of it, for fun rather than playing for keeps like the trainers in her home region had done, and with a flourish the veteran trainer plucked a single red and white orb from her belt beneath her crimson red coat, the sly grin from before turning into something far more outright and genuine. Staryu was a no go for this given how heavily she'd trained the Pokemon up for her own protection along with most of her team, but there was still once Pokemon that hadn't seen anything more than practice matches yet - one that still fought because she enjoyed it, not out of necessity. Grin spreading a bit wider, Elinda flung the Pokeball out onto the field ahead of her, the orb opening to release a bright red, fox like creature several feet ahead of her - a Vulpix, and a gift received from a family member Elinda had reconnected with just before they'd both fled their home region. Taking the opportunity to stretch each of her legs in a cat like fashion after having been kept in her ball for so long, Vixxy simply remained in place as Elinda turned her eyes up and away from the Pokemon to look over at her chosen opponent.
"Right, your turn! Don't think too much about it, it's your first battle - do what comes naturally, follow your instincts!"

Alright, so, not bad. While Ryusuke had gone to the Kageroo only after being directed to it as reasonably priced, what he hadn't been expecting was quality to go along with that - in the blonde's mind, "reasonably priced" and "barely livable" had come to mean more or less the same thing after traveling for a few months, and it had more or less been the entire reason he'd started to frequent the local Pokemon Centers in each town rather than anything that would cost money. What he saw upon stepping through the front door, though, looked promising - relatively well lit, good quality hard wood, and very little if any dirt or mess, overall pretty comparable to most of the upper class Pokemon Centers he'd stayed in before. All in all, well worth the price they'd be paying to stay there, and a relatively welcome break from the communal living spaces that the Centers offered. Taking another step forward towards the front desk, it didn't take all that long for Ryusuke to notice the other person in the room as she stood up from behind the counter - only a handful of years younger than him if he had to guess, and from the look of it one of the people working there.
Family of the owners? He didn't exactly see how else she could legally work there at her age, but then again that really wasn't any of his business, although he was getting a rather odd feeling of familiarity from her, something he couldn't really place his finger on... again, though, not the place or the time, and he'd be best served by getting the reason he was there out of the way. At least that had been the plan - the moment she started to break out in sweat, though, and got the look of someone who had seen a ghost - not the Pokemon type - the teen paused, confused. Had Treecko beat him to the resort and was maybe behind him? A quick glance over his shoulder confirmed that was not the case, but as Ryusuke turned his head back to face the girl ahead of him he wasn't really sure what else could elicit such a reaction. He'd gotten it before with Treecko around - not everyone liked the Pokemon or his antics and Ryusuke knew that - but at that current moment he was stumped, and about to open his mouth to ask her what the problem was before she beat him to the punch.
....... ooookkaaaay. Not exactly normal by any means and under normal circumstances Ryusuke would've considered turning right around and leaving rather than dealing with crazy, but he had no idea where Metagross was or when the Pokemon might choose to skip town, and until he knew that Ryusuke was pressed for time. He had a feeling he was probably going to regret it later, but with little other choice the trainer opened his mouth to speak, careful to keep his thoughts off of his face on the off chance it did something to set her off.
"Hey, sorry to bother you. Would it be possible to take out two rooms for the night?"
And with the loss of one potential prospect for company came another, although far less agreeable than the first. Metagross knew that he looked rather intimidating to humans in general - he was at least eight to ten times their size, a completely different color and body shape and more than that, just incredibly alien to them - but he didn't exactly understand why they had to lose it whenever confronted with something different or unexpected. That in itself was probably the main reason, above all others, that he had followed his first trainer and was looking for her now - she didn't flinch away from the unknown, but rather she embraced it and took any challenge head on. That, though, was not the case with the first person to flee the bath, and he was still reserving judgement on the second one that had walked into the room.
Upon hearing the door open again from the building, Metagross lazily opened a single eye to look the new comer over - human, again, just like the last, but unlike the other one it was a female and, thankfully, fully clothed. Not that he really saw much point to the garments - they didn't do much in terms of protection and he imagined they'd make it quite a bit more difficult to move. At the very least, though, this one didn't run away - rather than that, she instead began to approach him, something that not many humans typically did so readily. And with such confidence! Had it not been for the rather aggressive approach she was using he would have maybe even considered leaving as she clearly wanted him to - given the rudeness, though, he was far less inclined to grant her request, and simply remained halfway submerged in the water, a single crimson eye watching her from just above the water line. He was willing to tolerate her presence - at least, that was, until she started prodding at him with the broom.
Stupidity or bravery? It was a very fine, very thin line and often difficult to tell, but she had to know that the broom wasn't going to cause him any real discomfort, let alone harm. Yet again, applaudable if it was the latter, but at that point in time Metagross didn't really care. Once again, it was unlikely to cause him any real measure of discomfort, but letting her do it once might make her think that escalation was an option if it didn't work - and more than that it was the principle of the thing. How to deal with it, though..... he had no desire to cause her any harm or perform any action that might be taken as hostile, something that either knocking her off her feet or breaking the broom through a gentle use of Telekinesis might accomplish, but he couldn't just let it stand. In the end, Metagross chose a third option - as the human began to pull the broom back again, Metagross took hold of it with Telekinesis, holding it in place even as she continue to pull back on it - with any luck her own motion pulling her forward to fall into the water.
Moves used: Telekinesis used to hold the broom steady and pull Janelle into the water
All attempts of kindly disregarding this woman had horribly and utterly failed. The much more experienced, and possibly insane, trainer had gotten Rain trapped. Granted, Rain’s meek and timid nature was her downfall. Batting around the point and trying to avoid causing any hurt feelings, Rain had once more seemed to screw herself over. If the ‘Kick Me’ sign on her back could get any bigger and obvious, it would be made of flashing neon lights on a busy high way. She could only stumble along in Elinda’s grasp as the other woman guided her out into the empty street. As they walked, Elinda gave her a rather short and not very helpful pep talk, and something inside of Rain told her this woman must be some sort of sadist. If it wasn’t obvious before that Rain wanted to run away, it was very clear now.
The moment Elinda let her go, Rain had half the mind to run away, but something in the back of her mind told her that all attempts of escape were futile. She merely stood there like a deer in the headlights as Elinda seemed to ever so eagerly rush away to put distance between the trainers. Rain was shaking like a leaf as her nerves began to go on the fritz, her heart pounding, and butterfrees going crazy in her stomach. She recognized this feeling all too well, and it was a feeling she hated very much. It was quite similar to the stage fright she almost always felt before getting on stage to perform in front of hundreds to thousands of people. No matter how many times she got on that stage, no matter how many times she received cheers and praise, this feeling always managed to come back to her.
Silently panicking, Rain’s imagination kicked into gear as Elinda flung her pokeball up and into the air. She could see it, now, the horrible monster that Elinda was about to set loose on her. It would be big and tough, scarred from years of battling, and ready to eat the poor girl alive. Rain’s earlier thoughts about escape being futile began to even start suggesting ‘Well, you never know until you try’ as she imagined this horrid monster. It wasn’t until the beam of light faded to reveal the absolutely adorable Pokémon Elinda had that Rain suddenly seemed to calm. Slowly stopping her shaking and trembling, she could only stare for a long moment at the little Vulpix Elinda had called out.
Well, it certainly wasn’t a terrifying beast at least, but Rain knew very well appearances could be deceiving. She looked down to her pokeballs, carefully shifting the weight of the egg in her arms as she started to dig around in her bag. She couldn’t use Cacnea since he would be a rolling ball of fire just seconds into the battle. She wouldn’t use Spinarak, no matter how tough she was, there was no way Rain could handle the terror and battle at the same time. That only left Onix, though, and she almost didn’t have the heart to release the irritable jerk on the cute Vulpix. There wasn’t much choice, though. Rain struggled for a moment with trying to convince herself that it was okay to let him out, before she finally just ripped the pokeball from the bag and threw it at the ground.
Immediately towering over both trainers, and Vulpix alike, the Onix did a brief scan of the area, before he seemed to even notice Elinda and Vixxy. He lowered down to their level, eyeing the two, before tilting his head to look back at Rain. She only offered a nervous smile to him and explained “They want to battle, and you… You were the best choice, so… Re-Ready?” The Onix only stared at Rain for a moment, before slowly turning to look down at the Vulpix, clearly not impressed. Rain frowned at Onix’s lackluster response to her question and she attempted to swallow her nerves. Before saying another word, Rain rapidly muttered a few things to herself, a chant of sorts, and if one were close enough, they might be able to hear the fact she was chanting the Onix’s moveset back to herself.
She could do this, right? Right, she could, she just had to play the part of an experienced Pokémon trainer! Rain took a deep breath and leaned slightly to the side to peer around the Onix at Elinda. “When… Whenever you’re ready!” she called out. Onix’s tail began to glow with a clear sign of an Iron Tail being charged up. He didn’t want to deal with this little pipsqueak, and he was going to be damn sure that the moment it even tried to open its mouth, he’d smack it into a building. Rain could see the charging Iron Tail, and hesitantly said “Onix, wai-wait for me to gi-give you instructions okay, pl-please.” The Onix didn’t even bother to acknowledge her words, though. It was obvious he was not going to be listening to anyone today.
"Hey, sorry to bother you. Would it be possible to take out two rooms for the night?"
Ronnie shook herself out of the stupor she was in and cleared her throat nodding her head at him. "No need to be sorry sir. We're here to serve you in any way possible. Did you want those rooms conjoined or- " she stopped looking over at the ledger and turned to give the new guest a once over. Her head tipped to the side checking behind him before she moved her foot up onto the small shelf behind hit and looked down over the front for a child. There was nothing there. Her eyes moved back up to his as she wondered if he was married already or there on business. He didn't seem like the type of guy who did jobs for the elderly. "Two rooms?" she echoed his question wondering if maybe she heard him wrong. Just as she moved to set him up in one of the ground floor suits a scream ripped from the back of the house startling her suddenly.
Back in the small office Andie Rillito's head popped up as the pen once more fell from his lips. He knew that battle cry anywhere. "Uh, Dad?" Ronnie called out in a questioning concern turning her head as casually as she could but Andie was already busting out of the supply office and heading out back door towards the bath. "Got it!" he said just as the door slammed shut making her wince. Ronnie slowly turned back to the guest and plastered a smile on her face. "Well that was interesting." she said completely ignoring it and marked him down for two rooms. She turned once more behind the counter and grabbed a set of keys hanging from the many tiny gold hooks on the back wall and set them on the polished wooden surface keeping them close to her for a moment. The wooden plaque at the back of the empty hook showing a burned imprint of a flower that matched the markings on the face of the key. Ronnie's fingers punched in the register code on the computer pulling up the room list. "I apologize about that sudden outburst, we have a new type of therapy we're trying right now. Vent therapy. It should be over in a few more minutes." she said with a grin praying he bought it as she slid the key's across the counter to him. "How long did plan on enjoying yourself with us sir? And did you want all your meals here or just certain ones?" She inquired with her one hand hovering over the number pad and the other near the keys. Once she knew how long he was staying she could give him a total and then
Janelle flailed and sputtered to the surface gasping for breath as her kimono sucked in the water weighing her down. "Honey?!" Andie cried out as he jumped up over the privacy fence swinging his legs to the side. Landing he found his wife looking like a drowned rat wading over to the edge of the spring and pulling herself out. "Out." she hissed under her breath. "Get it out." she growled moving past him with her head down and bathed in an aura of pure black. Andie turned his head to watch her open the fence door and go through it. The soaking trail of spring water showing the way she went like a spattering trail of blood from a dragging body, causing him to suck in his breath through gritted teeth. He could only pray that Ronnie wasn't involved in this. Turning his head back he looked out at the spring raising a hand up and rubbing the back of his head as he took in the situation. "Welp, you heard her big guy." he said moving over to fish the scrubbing broom from the waters surface. "Come on, this ones reserved for the customers. If you want a bath Go over there behind the rocks." he thumbed to the side where the far wall of the pool was. The hot spring was huge but in order to keep it clean they had to cut it down half the size. Ronnie was the one who typically messed with that one, using it for herself and pokemon which sometimes had a habit of moving over into the personal waters.

Folding her arms ahead of her, Elinda simply stood in place as she waited for the girl to choose her Pokemon, the rookie sifting through her Pokeballs as the veteran looked on. Three Pokemon already, and she was nervous about battling? No, that wasn't right, it couldn't be. How else could she have gotten her hands on them? Surely she'd captured at least one of the wee little beasties through the traditional method of battling towards a capture? As she finally picked one of the Pokemon from those available, however, Elinda face broke out into a wide, tooth filled grin as she tilted her head back to look up at the massive Pokemon that had been released, taking up much of the street and battlefield. Nervous as she might have been, it at least seemed she had some common sense, and hopefully some degree of skill as well. Onix were not easy Pokemon to train, and were often considered to the be trademark Pokemon of rough and tumble trainers, Hikers and the like who had no fear of getting their hands dirty alongside their Pokemon. This was a strong one, too, that much she could tell just from looking - the thing's hide had clearly seen a fair amount of fighting and had healed up, toughened and hardened with practice and experience, but exactly how much was the question.
And with the passing of another moment, it quickly became rather obvious that it was too much, and that the thing had not originally been caught or hatched by the girl - it wasn't a pretty sight, but Elinda had been around long enough to recognize a traded Pokemon refusing to obey a trainer that had either not earned their respect or obtained the necessary badges needed to control it. Not a particularly bright one at that, either - she couldn't tell if he was completely unaware of type match ups or just didn't care enough about his given opponent to bother, but Iron Tail was not what any seasoned trainer or Pokemon would've chosen to use against a Fire type. A pity, too - Elinda had been looking forward to fighting someone who'd managed to capture and train one of the Rock types, but the girl on the other side of the field obviously had no control over the thing. As she looked towards her own Vulpix, however, Elinda could see that the Pokemon's previous trainer had more than rubbed off on her - despite the massive size difference and type disadvantage, the fur on the little Fire type's shoulders was on end, her stance wide and glaring up at the Rock snake. She did not like being looked down on, and after brief consideration Elinda figured that the Onix needed to learn that size wasn't everything - that, and to see what happened when he worked against his trainer, not with her. A loss between such disparate opponents would at least help set things in motion as far as that was concerned, and after looking back up at the Rock type Elinda finally decided on a course of attack.
"Vix, you're up - let's give 'em a show. Fire Spin."
Eyes suddenly taking on a slight red glow, Vixxy didn't wait twice to be told as the little Pokemon's mouth popped open, and from it issued a thick stream of flame that fanned out as it rushed towards the Onix - only to change in mid air to sweep up from the ground and wrap around the larger Pokemon, blocking the Rock type's view of Vixxy as the flames began to spin and envelope the Onix. A simple enough move at first glance, but Vixxy was no fool - as the flames rushed towards the other Pokemon from her mouth, nine additional blue flames would form over the tip of each of her tails before rushing forward to mix with the torrent gushing forth from the Fire type's mouth.
Summary: Vixxy used Nasty Plot to boost Fire Spin's power, and then used Will O' Wisp to infuse the flames surrounding Onix for a Burn status.

"Separate if you have the-" Ryusuke started, beginning to move further into the room and towards the front desk the other kid was behind, assuming that was the place he'd pay for the rooms and grab the keys for them. Beginning, however, was the key word - almost as soon as he'd started to reply he found himself cut off by the girl asking for clarification and then subsequently looking him over as if searching for something or someone. Exactly what, he could only have a vague idea - probably the other person the second room was for, but if that's what she was looking for, tough luck. He'd found that Lorraine was not exactly the type of person to move quickly in new places, and while he would've waited for her elsewhere, Lavaridge was a small, isolated community - the worst thing that could really happen was she'd wander into the Gym by accident or reach the town limits, and in either case all she'd be required to do was turn around and go the other way. She'd find her way to the Inn sooner or later, and if not all he'd need to do was go and find her, not too difficult a task. Right now, though, best thing to do was get the accommodations sorted ahead of time, one less thing to worry about later - and that meant dealing with the person ahead of him at that moment.
"..... what? It's not that unusual for trainers to travel in groups, or is that a problem? It's not like it matters to you long as I can pay for it and you've got the ro-" Ryusuke began, only to be interrupted a second time as a scream of rage erupted from somewhere down the hallway behind the kid he was talking to - and with it, another individual's head, likely the girl's father, popped out from one of the back rooms to look down the hall before immediately sprinting out of the room and down the corridor. "Vent therapy"? His shiny metal ass it was, he knew when someone had lost control over something and that was the panic responder fleeing to handle something that the present help couldn't. Long as it didn't involve him, though, he couldn't care less - one less problem he'd need to deal with, and as he shoved the thought out of his head the teen finally moved forward to step up to the desk as the girl started to punch up the room charges.
"Just a couple of days, probably two at most. No need for the food, either, just looking for a place to rest while passing through."
..... what was the point to them wearing clothing like that? While Metagross had long since accepted that it was a human thing he'd probably never really understand, he still continued to wonder why so many of them wore clothing that served absolutely no real purpose beyond getting in the way of things. Had the woman been wearing something else, for instance, he highly doubted the water would've been such an inconvenience - then again, though, this was also the genius who'd decided to poke something she couldn't possibly harm, only annoy, with what amounted to a wooden stick with a floppy end. As she began to climb out of the water, though, the Pokemon caught a glimpse of movement by the door, shifting his gaze to see another human - a male, probably the first one's mate - make an appearance. "Get it out"? An interesting notion, as before, and as she made the demand of the second human Metagross merely kept his gaze on the man as the woman made her exit.
So, what would this one's approach to the problem be? Would the man simply attempt to solve it through force or through annoying him enough in the hopes he would leave as the woman did, or would the human choose another course of action? Perhaps leaving the problem for later, or seeking help instead in the hopes of driving him off with numbers alone? Irrational little buggers, that was for certain - it was a rare thing when any of them attempted to solve a problem involving even members of their own species with anything other than shows of force or simple intimidation through numbers or some other means, and as the human approached him Metagross simply watched, wondering what the answer to his question would be. Oddly enough, however, the Steel type was mildly surprised when rather than yelling at him as the first had, the male simply spoke - in a voice of reason, no less.
What was the word Elinda and her mate had typically applied to such individuals? "Ballsy"? Despite the clear difference in size, the human didn't ask for Metagross to leave - he didn't even imply that staying where he was to be an option, despite there being little to nothing he could do to make him leave the bath. What he did do, though, was offer an alternative, and explain why they didn't want him there, providing at least a reason and understandable context from which to view their stance from. In any case, though, the man had earned at least a small amount of respect for choosing the intelligent option rather than the brutish approach the first one had. It wasn't like the alternative location was much further off, anyways - barely a few steps back for him from his current spot. Regarding the male for another few moments in silence, Metagross finally began to move as he stood up on all four legs, water cascading down from his metallic hide as the Steel type turned to begin languidly moving over the rocks and towards the proposed spot.

Sorry for the wait and the rather crappy post. Onix was brushed by the Flamethrower, Nasty Plot, & Will O' Wisp combo and earned a BURN status. He then burrowed his way underground using Dig.
The sight of the adorable Vulpix had certainly brought a degree of comfort to Rain. She had seen the Pokémon various times at Contests and was vaguely familiar with the moves it would use. She had even used one at one point, but that didn’t mean she knew the Pokémon like the back of her hand. Especially with this being her first battle, the amount of comfort brought to Rain by being able to at least recognize the Pokémon wasn’t saying much. Her Onix completely uprooted all sorts of potential seeds of hope Rain had of staying calm during this. If she could, she would’ve been much more comfortable using her Cacnea, but even she knew using a Grass type against a Fire type was a poor choice.
So, being unsure how to start off the battle, especially with her unruly Onix, Rain had allowed Elinda to start them off. It didn’t even take a moment for the veteran trainer to give Vixxy the order to give a show. With little thought, Rain subconsciously gulped and tried to speak but her voice failed her right off the bat. Without any prompt, though, the Onix was already acting on his own accord. As soon as he heard the order, he released the pre-charged cautionary Iron Tail to opt for an avoidance maneuver. The massive Pokémon began to burrow into the ground at an extreme pace, being burned by the flames and Will O’ Wisp as he took off for the underground.
When the flames mostly soared over the Onix, Rain ducked back from the wave of heat with a yelp of surprise. She suddenly snapped her head back up to try and see how Onix was doing, only for the Pokémon to have disappeared from view. Nothing of the Onix remained other than the hole he had left behind. It took a moment of convincing herself it was a bad idea for her to not to run to the edge of the new cavern her Pokémon had made in a wave of panic. She had no idea what his status was now, and this only frazzled her already panicked mind more.
