Of all the gifts her mother could have given her, the one she chose to give was a safari ticket. Hemlock would have taken candy, or some new clothes, or even a life lesson over this, but... well, it would be impossibly rude of her to resell the ticket, and she knew they were rather pricey...
So here she was, just a few steps outside of the entrance gate, having taken a grand total of ten steps into this place before the sound of something swooping overhead caused her to take pause and look around, to try and figure out what it was that was here and what all was in this insane place. The Safari-regulated Safari Ball was in her hands, crossed in front of her to cover up her pink blouse. Shaky legs took a few more steps with cream shorts, her neck craning to look around the tree she was currently using as makeshift shelter from this place.
Anything would have been better than being here. Hemlock would have felt more at home in a haunted complex than some nature reserve. What did they even store here, anyways? Hemlock read the pamphlets and stuff at the beginning of the facility; a lot of rare Pokemon were allowed to free roam here and breed and live in peace, and a certain number of species could be caught a month to help keep the populations in check and to introduce these Pokemon out into the world in a controlled manner.
Hemlock briefly thought about releasing Skelle or Matches or someone else, but the thought vanished from her mind when something else shot from one bush to another to her immediate left, causing her to stumble back with an eep, her legs practically flailing over one another as she almost fell down. Great, now she was jumping at shadows. Granted she did know what was in most of these shadows...
Her hand moved through her hair as she let out a long sigh. What was she even doing in here, again? She was useless...

Introducing the Dynamic Dragon Duo, Deino and Bagon.
The last time she had come to the Safari Zone, her adventure had led her to personally meeting another professor by the name of Arthur Symphonia. Their journey through the zone had been short lived, but it was still a positive experience on the young Lorraine Hasan. She had certainly been building up a bit more confidence as of late thanks to the collective support of those she’d come across on her journey. A year had gone by since she started and she was honestly surprised by how far she had come more as a person than a trainer at this point.
Such as having the confidence to take on a dark type, well more accurately, a dark dragon type, as one of her Pokémon. Charging full steam ahead, the blind Deino bashed into tree after tree, weaving about the area ahead in a wild excited sprint. In contradiction to the live wire that was her Deino, obediently paddling alongside his trainer, Rain’s Bagon calmly walked with an obviously arrogant air. He was no lowly hyperactive blind Dragon, no, he was going to evolve into the best of the best. Naturally, of course, the proud little thing had such a thick skull he thoroughly believed he was ready to evolve this very moment. Rain wasn’t as convinced at the blue dragon, but her focus wasn’t on him right now.
“Dei-Deino!” she cried out, only to hear the sound of another thunk nearby. Maybe starting off in a forested area for their search was a bad idea? She glanced down at the Bagon after the silent question, but the Bagon only shrugged and grinned a toothy grin when he heard another nearby thunk from the hyperactive Deino. He always did enjoy seeing his “rival” stumbling over her own two feet. Rain on the other hand grimaced at every impact. It was like watching Bagon jump off of Professor Io’s roof. She wasn’t sure how, but the two dragons could ram their heads into whatever they wanted and just get up and walk off as if nothing had happened.
‘Note to self, it seems that some dragons have thick skulls’ she thought to herself, adjusting her bag. “Deino, come back!” she ordered and sighed at another thunk. The Deino ran around for another burst, in which Rain heard a loud ‘eep’ and something falling over just before the Deino ran back into view. She yelped herself, quickly side stepping and shouting for the Deino to ‘heel’ in which the Pokémon skidded across the ground and came to an abrupt stop, sitting down immediately. Rain and Bagon both stared at their hyperactive companion, before the trainer softly sighed. “Alright, stay close, please” she sighed, turning to go investigate what had been knocked over by her dark dragon.
The Deino whirled around and trotted up behind Rain, nearly bumping into her as it bit down on the back of her coat, like a child grabbing their parent’s hand so not to get lost. Rain paid the act no mind, actually relieved the Deino would stay close for once. An arrogant snort came from the Bagon, which resulted in Rain shooting him a pleading gaze to be patient. The dragon wasn’t pleased, but he fell silent none the less. Managing to get back to the brush, Rain quietly approached the source of the previous noise, her head poking around the tree and she blinked a few times as her face began to fluster in realization the moment she saw Hemlock.
“I-I am so sorry about that, my Deino’s pretty uh… Energetic” she explained, though the way she said ‘energetic’ made it clear she had to take a moment to carefully choose the word to avoid potentially insulting terms. After speaking up, she began moving around the tree to offer her hand to Hemlock. “A-Are you okay?” she softly asked, the Deino shuffling behind her as the Bagon merely found interest in walking pass to inspect their surroundings instead. He didn’t have time for this, he had fights to get to.
She could have sworn it was a ghost as the rustling noises increased, raising the level of her heebie-jeebies meter one-thousand fold, followed shortly by a yelling cry. Heel. Or was it kill? Ugh, the sound distortion from the thick brush made it hard for poor Hemlock to tell and she stumbled back, once more relying on Ole Barky the tree for cover and a somewhat-crappy hiding spot. She waited for a moment and, upon hearing nothing to note, let out another sigh and went to stand and move out of her current location.
That is, until the slight turn in her field of vision allowed her to spot Rain, head peeping out at her. Hemlock flushed at the fact that she almost let a person scare her. The dark haired beauty before her definitely didn't belong in the jungle terrain surrounding them. The slight fluster from the stranger before her wasn't lost on her as she leaned forward a bit. Her... Deino? Was that what had been running about, causing the fuss? Energetic certainly was one word to describe the thing that kept thumping into everything.
Hand extended towards her, Hemlock felt bound by social conventions to accept it and the help up, using Rain as a light anchor to pull herself up to her full height, letting go softly as she pulled her own hands into her torso, a light pink hue on her face. "T-thanks. I-I'm fine." Hemlock nodded to reaffirm her own statement, glancing down and noting the two Dragon-types that were with the lady.
Deino was the four-legged one, right? Hemlock didn't really know much about dragons, really, but she was sure that the other one was Bagon, a native to her home region. She wondered if both of those had been found here, since the place had advertised itself as having plenty of dragons within. "Y-yeah, I'm, um, fine, miss." Hemlock gave a light, reassuring smile, trying her best to make sure the person before her didn't think Hemlock was entirely useless, being out here.
"Just... u-um, t-trying to find my way out h-here, you know?" A small nervous laugh escaped her as she looked about, trying to find some humor in the situation. "F-first time h-here." Perhaps that would be the magic phrase to help her out and help Hemlock seem like she wasn't hopeless, just... lost.

Rain the goober, tryin' to be all brave... and failing.
No ghost was to be seen as far as Rain was aware, much to her relief. While the constant exposure of Hero the Haunter had helped calm her fears to the point of not being right out instinctively running away, she still had quite the way to go before she was ready to face anything other than something from the Gastly line. If recalled correctly, Ryusuke had acquired his own little wandering soul recently as well, but Rain had yet to meet the gastly. Though, that may have been due to her own fear and Ryusuke not wishing to drive her to the point of insanity, much to her relief.
Now, the idea of her scaring anyone was admittedly laughable to herself. She was a gentle soul, would not hurt a fly… Unless said fly was her mother, then she would like fly swatter that was on fire and covered in spikes. Other than that, totally harmless, really. Well, minus her reckless Deino and her battle starved Bagon… The point was, she would do no harm or fright anyone by choice. So, to see Hemlock hiding away like this had certainly unnerved her a little. She hadn’t mean to allow her Deino to run around like that, and if she’d known someone had been nearby, she would have forced the dragon to stay by her side.
In a means to begin seeking forgiveness, she offered her hand that was quickly accepted and aided the other woman to her feet. She stepped back once her hand was let go to offer the other room to breathe, immediately slapping a hand on Deino’s head to push her head back as well. The dragon bonked her head against Rain’s side in a playful affectionate manner in response, but Rain let that bit of playing end there for now. Her focus remained on Hemlock, nodding when she confirmed that she was fine, though the stuttering left Rain unsure. She let out a silent sigh when assured again, and rubbed the back of her neck, rather flustered herself in this situation.
Without prompt, Hemlock went on to nervously mention the fact she was looking for her way out and Rain immediately inwardly latched onto this as a means to make up for her prior fluke. She gave a quick curt nod in response to her nervous chuckle and offered a kind smile. “Oh, uh… I-I remember my first time here, too” she chuckled slightly.
Yeah, that was like… What? A couple of weeks ago…? Would be kind of concerning if she didn’t remember that.
“It’s a pretty big scary place, h-huh?” she nervously joked, turning slightly to look around the forests. Suddenly all of the old horror stories and urban legends her mother practically buried her with began to resurface at this prompt. Rain’s confident air nearly vanished entirely as she stared at the darkness around them, before quickly clearly her throat. She toyed with her hair and turned a polite smile back to Hemlock. “Um… I-I know the way out of here s-so, I can show you if you like?” she suggested, before suddenly throwing her hair back behind her shoulder to let her fingers intertwine in front of her, almost like a choir girl about to belt out a gospel tune. “I’m still looking around for something of my own to ca-catch, but I can make the detour, no problem. Oh! Um… Lorraine Hasan, by the way. But, Rain for short i-if you’d prefer?” she tagged on, trying her best to be assuring. Granted, now with her own fear picking up, she wasn’t doing such a good job anymore.
At least it wasn't this girl's first time here, so one of them was in luck. Hemlock nervously rubbed one of her hands against her arm, nodding at her newfound acquaintance. She seemed... responsible, to say the least. The beauty before her had some control over her Pokemon too, which was reassuring given the original impression the Deino had left. At least the little blind dinosaur was well-being about its escapades.
The nervous joke was not lost on her, although the joke part seemed to leave and both of the girls were given the immediate sense of foreboding and danger as to the cascade of noises around them that never left and how it seemed simultaneously near and far away. Hemlock wasn't afraid of the unknown and what might be out there; she made a living off of the unknown. No, what scared her was that she had an idea as to what was actually out here and that wasn't something she wanted to encounter unprepared. Hemlock continued to play lightly with the tip of her sleeve, other hand by the side of her body, laying limp for all intents and purposes.
Hemlock's eyes lit up slightly, meeting Rain's gaze with a light smile and happy aura. While she didn't exactly want to waste her ticket in the Safari Zone, she would like to at least know the way out. Hemlock heard her out before looking to the side. "Y-yeah, that w-would be nice..." She paused for a moment before continuing on, trying to not feel like such a burden herself. "W-We don't h-have to leave, M-Miss Rain. I-I can h-handle myself, I-I'm just... lost." "OTL" was the true mood of the moment as she looked down in embarrassment, trying to pep up the situation and then basically explaining why she sucked.
It was then that she forgot to introduce herself at all, looking up and being flustered in her entirety. "Oh! I-I'm Hemlock, a-and..." Hemlock dug for a moment into her bag, withdrawing a contest Pokeball and popped it open, the light cascading out into a ghoulish form of a miniature candle. "T-this is Matches." The Litwick floated up above the gathering of Pokemon, its little light shining out as it looked around them.

Passing Carnivine 1 / 8 Rain no likey plants, and Bagon likes killing things with fire
Starting off with a nod, Rain smiled slightly when the other confirmed it would be nice if she helped the other out. Rain was ready to start leading the way, but it became apparent that Hemlock didn’t wish to leave yet? Or maybe she didn’t want to interrupt Rain’s trip to the zone? She wasn’t entirely sure as the coordinator explained, but it seemed that she was just content to have run into someone who knew their way around the Zone. Honestly, Lorraine hadn’t ventured very far about the zone or its many sub-zones before, but she had spent a good amount of time studying the map and even had a picture of it snapped onto her phone.
The two would be fine, she was sure. Especially with her little battle happy Bagon running around nearby. A glance back to see he was still sniffing around left Rain to be assured that nothing was coming close out here in the woods, yet. As she watched Bagon make his way about the roots and brush, Hemlock would return Rain’s introduction with her own name. Taking this as her cue to turn back to the younger trainer, it was in the moment she looked back that Rain learned to rather important details.
Hemlock was a coordinator, and she had ghost types.
A chill immediately shot down the assistant’s spine at the sight of the ghostly candle, complexion paling a notable degree. She opened her mouth, before shutting it and offering a terribly timid smile. “O-Oh, uh he… He looks very ni-n… Nice” she commented, just slowly stepping back to once more knock into her Deino. The Pokémon nudged her side and Rain just lightly pushed the dark dragon’s head away. Now was not the time for playing, ghost types were a big no-no for Rain. Admittedly, Litwick did look adorable and welcoming, it was the horror stories that came with that ominous purple fire on its wick that had Rain more or less shaking in her boots. She had to keep it together, though. She did promise Ryusuke she was working on overcoming her childish fears.
“I-I’m sure he’ll be helpful” she quickly rambled out to try and get them moving again and find an excuse to put more distance between her and the Litwick. She took another step back, only for the ground she stepped on to suddenly moving and veins to wrap around her leg. Her head jerked down to look at the green and red veins tangling themselves around her leg and she leaned slightly against her Deino to attempt to kick the veins off. They only got tighter in response though, much to her horror. “C’mon, ge-get off!” she demanded through gritted teeth as she tried to keep her head together. As she struggled, it appeared the fight with the veins had caught her Bagon’s attention while Deino just stayed put as a leaning post for his trainer.
Her leg was suddenly yanked up, making Rain fall back and crash into her dragon. Deino jumped slightly at the impact, flopping down to the ground immediately. Rain grunted at the impact and was in the process of getting back up when the veins began pulling on her even more towards the bush beside the tree. Underneath it, a pair of eyes snapped open to lock on Rain and mouth slowly opening. A sweet smell weft from the Pokémon’s mouth, but provided no comfort as Rain tried to grip the ground to stop being dragged over to the carnivorous plant’s mouth.
It was a moment of fear in which Rain’s chest had tensed up so tight she could hardly breathe, let alone scream. She managed to get a grip on the ground and with what remained of her muscles from years of gymnastics, dance classes, and so on, Rain was able to finally fight whatever it was that was pulling her away. Or at least, slow the process of its pull. She turned and glanced up at Hemlock, immediately motioning for her to scram and nearly slipping as she did. It would be after the motion that a burst of flames from her Bagon would sweep in and cause whatever it was pulling Rain down to let go with a painful screech. Rain crawled back immediately, once more knocking into her very baffled Deino. She started trying to get up, though part of her inwardly grimaced as it dawned on her that her ankle had not gotten away unscathed by the vines’ grasp. She glanced back to see her Bagon having the time of his life shooting fire at the plant in the form of strong Fire Blasts.
She turned to Hemlock, and with a brief moment of eye contact, she hoped it was enough to get the message of needing to leave across. She turned around to start back out of the woods, leaving the forested area for the fields. There was a slight limp to her step, but it was nothing too noticeable or concerning, just a slight discomfort. She may be leaving her Bagon behind, but that didn’t really concern her. Bagon had a knack for finding his way around, so she was sure the dragon would catch up after he was done… Playing with the Carnivine.
Didn't she just have the best luck at making friends? Hemlock was a bumbling social mess wrapped in a coffin, but she wasn't ignorant of all that you could gleem from another person's reactions. Rain wasn't exactly keen on something, and a gambling man would bet that it was because of Matches. It wasn't unusual - quite a few people were intimidated by Ghost-types, and they had a pretty bad reputations about them for a variety of reasons. Litwick lines were known for stealing, eating, and scorching souls and haunting hospitals and graveyards for fresh souls to eat... but, that was extremely wild and undomesticated Litwick. Matches wouldn't hurt a fly.
There was only a moment of moving before it all stopped and then everything because very fast. Suddenly nature itself was after them, and Rain was tripped up as Hemlock stepped forward to offer help for what she originally assumed was a tangled foot in some of the undergrowth. Hemlock saw it before Rain did, so to speak - the ravenous maw that lay on one side of the vine trap tugging at her newfound ally. A breath caught in her throat as her hands turned to a trembling jelly, and the sudden cascade of perspiration that froze upon her face. Matches didn't react, unable to do much given size and the fact that none of his attacks would have been capable of helping without also nailing Rain, which would ultimately be counterproductive.
What would be helpful was the sudden gush of flames echoing by her, danger-close. The good news was that despite the immediate wash of heat running over her side, the Carnivine in question was now suffering under the rule of its new attacker, and the Bagon was quickly going to work to make the grass-type its bitch.
Hemlock didn't need to be told twice to leave as the inferno bloomed, with Matches sitting on her shoulder, turned around to watch the flames. "M-miss, a-are you okay...?" She asked as they walked, moving in a tad closer to the other trainer and her blind dog-dragon thing.
Didn't get too far from their last scene of incidence, however, before the grass to their forward left shook just once as a warning, and then there was a charge across the way - running across the "path" to smash into a large tree, resulting in a whip-crack sound as it fell back. The creature wasn't tall, but it looked like a battering ram - a head built like a tank and short but powerful legs.
And then it noticed them, even though Hemlock had frozen into silence. Red eyes took them in with a head turned to the side, action almost like that of a young bird. Then it pawed like it was going to charge again, and in that moment Hemlock figured out that it would be a bad idea to stand in the path it planned to charge in.
"M-matches, Smog!" The Litwick nyoomed forth, with the base of the flame glowing a tad larger before Litwick blew out a steady thick breath as the Cranidos charged forth, head aglow with a light pink energy. It did seem to slow ever so slightly at running through the smog, but all it took was the one devasting blow with its Zen Headbutt attack to knock out Matches and send the little Litwick airborne.
Shit. Hemlock scrambled to the side as the Cranidos pawed at the ground more, tossing out another ball she dug out. A Shuppet appeared, floating into the eyesight of the fossil and drawing the aggression. Good. Shuppet were great conduits of those negative emotions, and this would help give him the edge.
Strings the Shuppet fired off a few embers of blue fire from his mouth, aiming to stall with Will-O-Wisp before wisping into the ground with a Shadow Sneak attack to move in behind. The actions kept the fossil off balance before it saw what it thought was Shuppet's shadow and charged, right off the path and into the underbrush.
Now was the time to run before it figured out it was tricked. Hemlock had returned poor Matches, holding the Luxury Ball in both of her hands as she looked to Rain for some idea of what to do or where to go.

Passing Cyndaquil & Cranidos 3 / 8 Bagon is best back up. Planning on evolving him potentially in this thread or just using one of his fights from here as evo-proof
Back with the Carnivine, Bagon, as it was eloquently put, was indeed making the grass-type his bitch. Quite frankly, it was a boring process for the dragon type. He craved challenges, something that made his blood rush, but killing a weed like this was hardly satisfying for the Pokémon. After a spree of fire blasts on the poor Carnivine, the Bagon backed off his relentless attacks and let out a challenging roar, daring the Pokémon to come at him. The Carnivine chose the safer of the options though and took to pulling his severely damaged body up into a tree and mostly out of the wing-less dragon’s reach. In the Bagon’s eyes, the retreat was almost a form of mockery, though. He bashed into the tree in a fruitless attempt to knock the Carnivine back down to his level. He tried climbing, but ultimately failed that as well. After a good ten minutes of this clambering, the Bagon essentially ragequit’d the situation. With one final stubborn huff of flames in a flashy threat, the Bagon turned to stomp his way back after his trainer and co.
“M-Miss, a-are you okay…?”
Rain’s head tipped to glanced over at Hemlock as the two quickly made their escape. Offering a timid shaky smile, Rain was doing her best to remain confident and assuring, but that really had figuratively ripped the spine out of her. She opened her mouth, before shutting it and having to break eye contact in order to actually offer Hemlock a proper response. “Ye-yes. I’m fine, heh. I’ve taken some harder falls…. G-Gymnastics isn’t easy, you know?” she questioned, trying her best to play it off with a light hearted joke. For a moment, she believed they were in the clear, but it was a short lived belief as the grass began to shake. Deino let out a gruff growl in response, an alert that something was definitely there.
Seconds later, there was something clearly charging, the crash and fall. Rain was all for leaving before they were noticed by the charging Pokémon, but they weren’t fast enough to flee. Rain froze in place once more at the sight, her skin crawling at the red eyes now watching them. She could tell by his body language just what was about to happen, and her Deino was already nudging her side once more to convince her to move out of the way. Before they could once more run away, the little Litwick zoomed to the front of the group with his orders to use Smog. Rain glanced back at Hemlock, baffled by the use of a gas based attack to try and block the incoming Pokémon. As she predicted, the little candle was instantly KOed as a result, and Rain grimaced at the sight. She was knocked out of the Bagon’s way by her Deino and temporarily separated from Hemlock who took on the task of once more getting the Cranidos’s attention with…
Another ghost type, yay.
Rain stayed put besides her dragon, watching in panic at the battle ahead. Rather than actually knocking the Cranidos out, though, the Shuppet resorted to trickery to get it to fall away. A smart plan, something she figured the ghost type would do, but it was a temporary solution and may have only angered the Cranidos. With the Pokémon temporarily out of commission, Rain’s gaze shot to Hemlock who was now looking to her for an idea of what to do. The pressure was on and it was the kind of situation Rain tended to flourish in. She merely nodded back in a silent gesture for Hemlock to follow her, before turning to hurriedly walk along the path, nearly jogging as she went. The further away from the Cranidos they were, the better.
After a couple of minutes of the fast paced evacuation, Rain slowed down long enough to look back and see they were no longer being followed. Her eyes drifted down to the Deino, who seemed once more relaxed without the Cranidos staring them down. “Well… Tha-That was… Close” she mumbled, scanning the tall grass around them. She could spot the watering hole in the distance and glanced back towards Hemlock. “Um… Are you okay…?” she asked, now starting with a slow walk towards the water. As they went, the group would pass the sleeping Cyndaquil, but Rain showed no interest in bothering it, moving to go around the Pokémon as quietly as possible. It didn’t stir in response, just fast asleep in the warmth of the mid-day sun.
Back further on the path, the Bagon was still working on catching back up with Lorraine and co. He was displeased by his earlier fight ending so quickly and it would be as he walked along that he would notice a Pokémon was a similar build to his own rising from the brush and clearly pissed off. The dragon eyed the other Pokémon out of curiosity, noting the damage he’d taken and the signs of a burn on his hide. Not worth his time, the Bagon decided, preferring a foe that was healthy and ready for a battle rather than some scrapped up guy like that. Though, as he was moving to keep up with his trainer’s scent, he would catch the attention of the Cranidos.
The injured Cranidos kicked at the dirt, preparing a charge and it was the gesture of the kicked up dirt that made the Bagon stop and level a dead pan with his foe. Really? He was really going to try this? The dragon did not have time for this bullshit, he had a trainer to find! He could see the other was about to charge though, so he took a deep breath, puffing out his chest as if a show off of strength. The moment the Cranidos took off in his mad charge at the Bagon though, it became quickly apparent the deep breath and puffed out chest was no showing off. With a powerful counter blast, the dragon released a Dragon Breath to forcibly slow the burnt foe down.
The Bagon held the attack out as long as he could, before jolting out of the way of the incoming Pokémon. He was narrowly hit, something he scolded himself for, but respected the tough Cranidos for managing. The respect didn’t change how the Bagon would finish this off though. With another deep breath, and another Fire Blast at the Cranidos, the Bagon finished off his foe, K.O.ing the wild Pokwmon and freeing his trainer and her new friend from having to worry about it following them. The Bagon stood and waited for a sign of the it possibly getting ready to attack again, but it stayed down and the dragon took it as his cue to carry on in playing catch up.
Hemlock was rather glad that Rain had agreed to Plan: GTFO, since she didn't want to deal with a Cranidos. Hemlock's Pokemon weren't in the style of dealing with such offensive brutes. They were trained in paranormal investigation and coordination, nothing more. Hemlock followed Rain, keeping a few steps behind in case something happened or her leg showed signs of buckling. Hemlock didn't have gymnastics under her belt, but she did have dance, and she knew that any kind of leg pain could be a problem in an escape situation.
Luckily, it seemed like they had gotten away and were now near a peaceful-looking area. Nothing of note - watering hole, nice rays of sunshine, and a few sleeping Pokemon. They passed a slumbering Cyndaquil as a prime example, with the duo tredding lightly. Shuppet moved over it to eye the little fire type for but a moment before moving on to float about and around. Hemlock sighed as Rain shot a question in her direction and the coordinator pursed her lips.
"I-I'm fine. Been in w-worse s-situations." She gave a light smile, as if trying to reassure the girl. It was true, she had been in technically worse situations - lighting people on fire counted. Haunted objects and angry ghouls tended to fill the void for danger that Hemlock usually tried to avoid. Hemlock paused for a moment, looking around as Rain moved towards the water before realizing she might get left and moving forward to follow her. Strings favored hovering over the Cyndaquil for a moment longer before following his trainer.
Hemlock cautiously moved to the water, taking note of a sole Totodile, backstroking in relative silence with his little eyes closed. This area seemed so much more relaxed and peaceful in comparison to the hectic jungle zone all around them. After a moment of silence from herself, she spoke up. "T-think its g-going to stay h-hectic?"
Strings floated over the water, trying to keep his shadow right behind the swimming Totodile in an attempt to play with the little guy.
Danger in the meadow was going to be a bit easier to spot in comparison to the forest, but still not entirely easy to find. She felt a bit more at ease in the open area and as she felt her initial adrenaline begin to fade, the pain in her ankle started to become a bit more evident. She didn’t acknowledge it outwardly, but did make sure to keep her weight off of her foot in case. Shifting to lean on her good foot, her gaze went from scanning the area to resting once more on her current company in the Zone, Hemlock Walters. In vain, Rain attempted to ignore the Shuppet hovering around, but it was not working out very well.
She returned the other’s smile with an assuring smile of her own. The two were similar in a way, Rain had noticed. Both were timid and had a tendency to stutter with backgrounds in coordinating. While there was many similarities, there was a lot the made them very different as well. Hemlock was a ghost specialist, Rain was terrified of ghosts, for starters. Rain didn’t consider much more than that at the moment and forced her gaze to drift back to the water and their surroundings for any approaching Pokémon. “It… Might” she answered, truly unsure of just what nature had in store for them. The meadow was much calmer, the Pokémon here seeming keen on keeping to themselves and resting at the moment.
“I think the forest was a bit more… Da-Dangerous than out here, we’ll just have to be, y-y’know… Careful?” she evaluated, looking back over at Hemlock as the Shuppet drifted out to the Totodile. Rain’s Deino seemed to decide to get up to her own little playing and kept on walking after Rain and Hemlock had stopped near the water’s edge. She trotted her way into the water gleefully so, and disturbing the surface enough to get a few water types to briefly peek at her before moving away. The dark dragon dropped into the water, creating a large enough splash to get Rain a little wet. The trainer merely quirked a brow at her Deino, before resuming her look around, not noticing the frog that had swam up to Deino.
Deino enjoyed the cool water, stub of a tail seeming to be wagging in pleasure. It wasn’t until there was a sudden blast of water smashing into her side that the Deino was disturbed. Rolling various times through the water before turning to get her ground as she slid up onto the shore the dragon growled angrily at the foe. Said foe being a Froakie that merely smiled before vanishing back into the water. Rain eyed the odd frog for a moment, vaguely recognizing it as a Pokémon Ryusuke had gotten recently from his cousin. Her gaze turned over to her Deino and she yelped quietly when she saw the dragon being engulfed in a purple aura. “Deino, no! You don’t know where it went!” she shouted, making the Pokémon stop. The odd aura faded and she turned her head as if to look at Rain, confusion evident by a cock of her head. Rain sighed and with a whistle, the dragon trotted back over to her, though there was a limp that was courtesy of being nailed by a close ranged Water Pulse.
Rain reached up to gently pat her dragon’s head, before kneeling down to inspect her side to get a gauge of the damage. Nothing too significant but enough to be reason for Rain to decide to return the Deino to her pokeball. She smiled up at her tough Pokémon and scratched under her chin before returning her. She set the pokeball in place and glanced at the water to see the yellow eyes of the Froakie under the surface eyeing Hemlock and her. Rain paused and slowly started to walk along the edge of the water, the Froakie’s eyes following, almost territorial in a sense. Her eyes briefly flicked over to the Totodile and Shuppet, and it dawned on Rain who might be the next target of the Froakie’s antics if noticed. Her eyes shot to Hemlock in a warning, her actions getting the frog’s attention. He looked up and spotted the Totodile, not caring for it before spotting the Shuppet trying to play with it. Target was acquired. Another water pulse shot out of the frog’s mouth in an instant right at the Shuppet and not caring if it hit the Totodile or not.
