✖PROF.IO 1,126 WORDS NOTES Merry Christmas, Shelena Io! Feel free to choose the Gender, Ability, and Move Set of your new see bottom of post for the Pokemon. | She hadn’t been the Professor’s assistant for very long, she knew that. But even then, her time with the professor had been very helpful and she felt she was making a lot of progress towards her new dream of becoming a professor. After all, she’d spent her childhood studying, learning, taking notes, and using her knowledge to become a considerably good coordinator. While stage fright came to bite her in the butt, and the fact she was constantly weighed down with self-induced guilt, self-loathing, and many other things, Rain actually had always had potential. Granted, she didn’t really see it in herself, but that was slowly changing the more and more she worked with the professor. Sure, the hours were long and there had been a few times she herself ended up passing out in the lab, rather than the house provided on land above. Could anyone really blame her, though? The lab was an absolute paradise, an amazing wonder only few got to see. The ocean was truly a magnificent place, and Rain would never get over the stunning view she got from her working area. Especially when she just needed to look away from her work when something wasn’t going the way she hoped, just staring at the open waters and watching the Pokémon swim around was soothing. Even if Water Types and the ocean weren’t really things Rain was sure she wanted to devote her career to researching, the practice she was getting from being with Io was no doubt a worthwhile experience. So, what was she to do to really show the professor how much she appreciated this chance given to her? Words were hard to find, and often she found herself stumbling over them when she did try to convey her gratitude. Luckily, Shelena Io was engrossed in her work at the times Rain would start the embarrassing ramble. A curious “I’m sorry, what was that?” would be typically met with a nervous chuckle and rather than a repeat of her prior statement, she would just state the facts clearly and fluently. The Magikarp was larger than average, the Clamperl’s shell appears to have scars that could be from a Sharpedo attack, the Horsea seems to have a The facts were easy to say, but gratitude and emotions were another mysterious art altogether. So what about using music? No… She was out of practice by now, it’d take too long for her to learn or make a song to get it to the professor by the holidays. Then… Money? Oh, the professor loved money, but would that really get the message across? Rain briefly recalled the way Io would get giddy over the funds the generous Murdoc Nikter provided. She was so blinded by her bounty, she most likely missed the way he seemed to light up when she was celebrating the dots. He was a nice man, or so Rain assumed. She never really talked to him, but he never gave any reason for her to question his integrity. But, money was a contender, although she really didn’t want to resort to that as a present. It wasn’t personal, enough. Now what, though? What could she possibly give the Professor that wouldn’t be too overlooked, would be easy to hand over, and would leave a significant impact on her? Rain had puzzled over this complicated situation ever since Thanksgiving had come and gone. Christmas was coming fast and honestly, she didn’t expect anything this year, nor did she really mind it. She didn’t need or really want anything this year, she was perfectly content for once. This year, Lorraine was going to try her best to make someone else’s Christmas awesome. Even if the present was going to be a little early this year, she had no doubt the Professor would mind. The night before, Rain had asked the Professor if she could crash in the lab in order to wrap up some reports she had put on hold. Having gone to the Wishbone Ball and all, she nearly fell behind but was working as hard as she could to get caught up, of course. So, with the professor’s blessing and instructions of where to crash when she was done, Rain’s plan was set in motion. It would be the very moment there wasn’t a single doubt in her system that Shelena Io was asleep that she would prepare the Christmas present for her. Then, proceed to crash on the couch late into the night, or early in the morning. In the middle of the lab area, a spare table had been set up with a white cloth spread over it to cover the stains and scratches in the worn surface. In the center, an artificial miniature light blue Christmas tree was set in place. Decorated with white tinsel and various shades of blue ornaments hanging from its tiny branches, Rain had made sure to go for an ocean theme set when it came to her choices. It was an elegant choice and created a lovely decorative center piece on the table. Next to this tree was a card, and on the other side of it, was a white basket. Inside the basket, a navy blanket had been meticulously folded and set to act as the cushion for the precious cargo inside. A simply light blue egg finished off the set up with a little white bow wrapped around it. The card wouldn’t be anything long and exhausting to read, especially with the present being perhaps one of the first things Io would see in the morning. No, it was a simple thing, as once more, words really did escape Rain in this situation. Inside the white envelope that had ‘Shelena Io’ written in silver imprinted ink, was your typical holiday card. The Christmas card was a simple cute green and red cover featuring Santa’s silhouette flying across the moon, and “Wishing you a Merry Christmas!” in golden scroll across the bottom. Inside, it went on in black text “And a jolly new year!” At the bottom were the only words Rain could really manage. In her clean and cute handwriting, she’d say… Thank you for allowing me to be your assistant. I really appreciate all of things you’ve taught me, and can’t wait to learn even more! Feel free to take a guess at what’s inside the egg, but if you really want to know, just read the note I hid underneath the egg. Thank you, again! From, Lorraine Hasan The little note paper underneath the egg was set upside down so a glance wouldn’t reveal what it said. If ever flipped over, just one word would tell Io everything. Lapras. |
