"And with that, here is your Safari Ball, Professor - enjoy your expedition into the Safari Zone!" She said, formally. The old-looking black-haired woman chuckled softly, her age pouring into the tone of her voice and demeanor. She commented much softer now, "Do tell me if you find something interesting, Arthur. I would love some scientific insight."
"If I find something, you shall be the first to know, Rowena. Do say hello to Godric and Helga for me." Responded the Fossil Professor as he passed through the gates into the Safari Zone.
How long had it been since he'd been here? Far too long. The environment of the Safari Zone was something he found incredible, not only as a Pokemon Professor, but as a Trainer. The wide variety of habitats, not counting the Pokemon that lived within them, was incredible - from hot, scorching areas to cold, frigid waters. The rare Pokemon which inhabited the many, many areas of the Safari Zone were incredible Pokemon in of themselves - from Dragon-Types to his precious Fossils. He, personally, loved the concept of possibly having a Ditto - an incredible opportunity, both for his research and for his personal interest. The Fossil Professor had to admit, they were cute little buggers.
He was wearing his normal outfit, his grey Converse and royal-blue pants on his lower section, while his blue jacket was, as always, completely buttoned. The buttons were polished and clean, as was the rest of his clothes, prim and proper and ready to explore. His glasses hung low on the crook of his nose, reflecting light every so often in the sun. His faded-sapphire eyes looked over the rolling grasses of the entrance to the Safari Zone, feeling the wind play softly with his black hair.
A fine day for a Safari, thought the Fossil Professor to himself.

Heya Professor!
Her first trip to the Safari and it would be a lie to say that Lorraine Hasan wasn’t excited. She’d been looking forward to the chance to check it out ever since she was a child, but due to circumstances, she hadn’t had a chance up until now. Taking a day off from her work with Io, this was a fun trip she’d been hoping to take with Ryusuke, but his own work had called him off to Kanto. She hoped he was having fun, but she still missed her friend. Honestly, this would be the first time Rain would go out catching without her friend at her side, which made her nervous for obvious reasons.
Tugging on the strap of her messenger bag, Rain quietly made her way out of the building set in front of the Safari Zone and eyed her supplies. A tag and a Safari Ball, all of her empty PokeBalls and Dive Balls removed from her inventory for good reason. She felt a little needle tug on her pants and Rain tilted her head to look down at the Cacnea teeter tottering after her. She offered a small smile to her little Pokémon and looked back up at the expansive terrain ahead of her. Gulping quietly, Rain reached up and nervously clawed at her own pony tail. Safari Zone, it was full of rare and powerful Pokémon, was she really ready for this?
Her eyes surveyed the land before resting on an older gentleman not that far away. Blinking a few times at the sight of him, her mind tugged at a faint memory of him and she started towards him. He looked familiar and it wasn’t until she was probably in his peripheral view that she would finally recognize the Pokémon Professor, Arthur Symphonia. Immediately her eyes widened and Rain felt her heart skip a beat in excitement. Oh just her luck! She looked back down at the Cacnea behind her and she chimed “C’mon Cacne!”
The Pokémon tottered over as Rain began to approach the fossil professor. Slightly flustered with nerves, she quietly approached and opened her mouth before her voice abandoned her. Just letting out a breath, she tried to speak, but rattled nerves took away her words away and she shut her trap for a moment, simply staring at Arthur like a deerling in the headlights. After a poke of a needle from her Cacnea, Rain jumped slightly with a yelp. The act was enough to defeat the evil nerves and she sputtered out “HE-HELLO PRO—Professor Symphonia!” Swallowing back the war zone between nerves and words, Rain offered a timid smile to the older gentleman. Clearing her throat, she continued more smoothly “S-Sorry, I’m uh… I’m Professor Shelena Io’s assistant Lorraine Hasan.” She offered her hand to him for a firm handshake. “I’ve heard about so-some of your work, an-and it’s an honor to mee-meet you in person.”
As a Pokemon Professor, it was his duty to, every-so-often, visit the Safari Zone and inspect the fauna and flora which inhabited it. It was up to the Professors, as well as the Rangers and caretakers of the Safari, to make sure that the many ecosystems which encompassed the giant Safari Zone were safe and sound. Was it his turn to make the rounds? No. But he enjoyed coming. The entrance was very plains-like, filled with sun and wind, and the day could have not been better for a Safari outing. Plus, he might get some extra pay if he added that he did extra-hours. The League was a bit stingy, but kind enough to lend him some money. Goodness knows that he needed a Pokemon Lab from which to work from.
Arthur was about to step forward into the Safari when suddenly a voice behind him stopped him.
“HE-HELLO PRO—Professor Symphonia!”
Someone that knew him by title? Interesting. The Fossil Professor turned, inquisitive sapphire-colored eyes looking over the girl who had called him. She seemed somewhat flustered - now who did that remind him of?
"Hello, there - how can I help you?" Offered Arthur.
“S-Sorry, I’m uh… I’m Professor Shelena Io’s assistant Lorraine Hasan. I’ve heard about so-some of your work, an-and it’s an honor to mee-meet you in person.” She explained, extending her hand out in greeting. Shelena Io... That was the Marine Biology Professor, he remembered. Her work was very useful in deciphering some of the questions that often hit Pokemon Paleontology, since many Fossil Pokemon were marine in nature. The Fossil Professor chuckled and took the girl's hand, politely shaking it with a soft smile on his face.
"Well, then, Miss Hasan, it is a pleasure to meet you. Allow me to properly introduce myself - my name is Arthur Symphonia. Please, call me Arthur." He answered. She had a Cacnea in tow, so that meant that she most likely owned Pokemon, and furthermore was probably going on the Safari. Well, he'd rather go with a person, honestly.
"Miss Hasan, if I may ask, would you like to come along in my Safari expedition? I was about to head out, and I would appreciate some company."

I am so sorry about the long wait for this reply! Whenever you want to start spawning stuff is good with me.
The older gentleman took her hand with a smile and Rain felt her heart immediately go pitter-patter. It was like meeting a famous celebrity all over again, and despite having been once a make-shift celebrity herself, that never stopped her from freaking out a bit. She was never any big shot, but even then, she was sure even the big shots would freak out when meeting each other for the first time. Letting his hand go after the brief shake, she nodded at the words and smiled at the answer. Arthur? Well, it was more professional to refer to him by his title, but if he insisted, who was she to argue?
About to speak, her voice once more was dragged back to war with her nerves when she was offered a chance to go on this expedition with Arthur himself. Blinking rapidly at the idea, Rain slowly glanced down at her Cacnea, before looking back up at Arthur. “Uh… Y-You wouldn’t mind?” she questioned, shifting nervously. What if he knew this was her first time here? Surely a professor didn’t want to waste time with someone who was still working on grasping the ropes of Pokémon training. Well, as Ryusuke had said, Rain had the basics down to an art, but she still had quite a ways to go before being some kind of threat, really. She toyed slightly with her hair and looked up at Arthur with a sheepish smile.
“I-It’s my first time here in the Safari, s-so I wouldn’t want to impose or uh… Slow you down or anything, Pro—Arthur” she explained, briefly looking away as she noticed her Cacnea was already waddling on ahead. Frowning slightly, she quickly chirped “Cacnea, don’t go too far!” The Cacnea didn’t seem to react as he continued to just walk off, curious about the new environment. Rain pouted slightly at the Pokémon, but left him be for the time being. He wasn’t wandering into any sort of trouble… Yet.
“Uh… Y-You wouldn’t mind?” She asked timidly. She really did resemble Mimoza. A pang of worry shot through the Professor as he thought of his missing friend, who had left without so much an explanation or goodbye. While he was carefully looking through the possibilities as to where she might have gone, he knew that he, eventually, would simply take off and go search for her. It was his nature. The Professor chuckled softly, shaking his head.
"No, I would not mind at all, Miss Hasan. There is nothing like the company of a well-disposed mind, after all." He responded politely.
“I-It’s my first time here in the Safari, s-so I wouldn’t want to impose or uh… Slow you down or anything, Pro—Arthur."
He shook his head, an amused smile ghosting his face. Io did really luck out with her assistant - she seemed eager to learn, but not overconfident. He would have to visit the fellow Professor at some point, have some scientific discourse, and possibly work on an adjoined project. He responded:
"Nonsense. As a Professor, it's my duty to help young Trainers increase their experience and knowledge - plus, you seem capable enough, so I doubt you would slow me down. I'm offering, nay, asking you if you would like to come along, so by no means is it imposing." Through his glasses, the Professor noticed Rain's Cacnea going off, already excited. Arthur chuckled, "Let us move, then - Cacnea seems excited already."
And with that they were off, stepping into the Safari. The Professor looked over the area with appreciation, pushing up his glasses every so often as they moved. His sapphire eyes were filled with soft wonder, appreciation for the world that surrounded them. What grandeur - plant species that he had to think about to recognize, habitats which, in the distance, one could discern as being foreign. The Safari Zone was a wonderland for a researcher such as himself. The soft grasses that they were passing through shook every so often, brimming with life. They were walking by a clearing when suddenly, into the clearing popped out a Bagon.
The Dragon-Type looked around, unaware of its visitors as of yet. The Professor appreciated the Pokemon - very rare, strong of will, and evolved into a majestic species. They were resilient, hard-working, and while wonderful Pokemon (after all, are not all Pokemon wonderful living things?), a Pokemon that held no interest in the Professor's studies. A Bagon would be more suited to a Dragon-Type Trainer. Thinking that he knew not much about Lorraine, he whispered to her:
"Miss Hasan, I can't say I have much interest in that Bagon. Would you like to catch it, or shall we on?" He said. It was only polite that he offer the chance.

ATTEMPTED TO CAPTURE BAGON Sorry for the wait. I'll try to keep up, but if I get too busy / slow, I'll drop out of the thread so you won't have to wait on me.
She really did not want to be a bother of any sorts, or a potential burden for the dear Professor. The man appeared to be a kind man, gladly insisting on her company even after she tried to give him an excuse to shut her down. His response merely made her heart go a flutter, her little ego grow, and her cheeks turn a hint of pink. There was no more arguing as he commented on her Cacnea’s antics, and Loraine merely followed his lead. She took a moment to return her excitable Cacnea, not wishing to have it come running at them, trip, and crash its prickly body into the Professor’s legs. She could practically feel the disappointed look from Miss Io now just at the thought.
But moving along, Rain didn’t really know what it was she was searching for. Her ‘team’ wasn’t really any sort of set pattern, and she had no water types, other than her Lileep in a way. The thing was at one point a Pokémon that lived on the seafloor. She almost shuttered at the thought of what it did down there and sighed to herself. Her gaze would turn down to her belt, the young woman carefully reaching down to examine the various pokeballs she had on her belt today. Cacnea was always a no brainer, and despite not being able to actually use him, Rain habitually brought along her rather irritable Onix. There was a Spinarak that Rain was honestly too terrified to even touch the Pokémon’s pokeball still, and next to her was a Houndour, a Sandshrew, and a Larvitar. A nice collection if she had to say so herself.
She was content with musing over various catching strategies, battling strategies, and the like, when Arthur would come to a stop ahead of her, causing her to follow suit. She would follow his gaze to spot the Bagon in the distance and her eyes lit up slightly at the sight of it. Oh, she knew this Pokémon! A bagon, and it would evolve into a Salamance! Rain grinned, before her smile would falter slightly as she recalled who she was there with. Her eyes would turn to Arthur just as he would dismiss the Bagon and ask if she wanted it. Rain paused at the question for a moment and merely glanced back towards the Bagon… Did she really want one?
After just a moment of consideration, the positive marks outweighed the bad and Rain smiled up at Arthur. “I-I would like to catch it, Pro—Arthur” she informed, before lifting her bag from her shoulder and setting it on the ground by him. “Could you uh… Watch this for me?” she questioned, glancing up at him as she pulled out the Safari Ball. Following doing so, Rain would also grab one of the Pokeballs on her hip and let out her Pokémon of choice. Her young Houndour would take the field, stub of a tail shaking rapidly in joy. “Houndour!” Rain would shout out, getting the attention of not just her Pokémon, but the Bagon in the distance. The wild Pokémon seemed to almost grin at the sight of the challengers, before he’d glow in preparation of the incoming battle. A familiar glow of a Focus Energy already being used which was unsettling for a moment, but Rain had to keep her head in the game. She was under the observation of a professor after all.
“Start off with a Leer and Howl!” Rain ordered, the Houndour’s tail suddenly stopping. With a look shot to the Bagon, in which the Bagon’s defense would be lowered, the young Houndour would rear her head back in a powerful battle cry to increase her strength. As she would do this, though, Rain could see the Bagon wasn’t the type to wait for the foe to finish their speech. His mouth would puff up like a full Kirby, before opening his trap would release a burst of Ember flying right at the Houndour. Rain didn’t blink twice at the attack, and neither did her Pokémon. In fact the Houndour seemed to embrace the flames before shaking it off as if it was nothing. The Bagon wasn’t pleased and once more another round of Ember would be launched at the Houndour in an ever so stubborn fashion.
After enough rage induced sparks, the tired Bagon huffed and was all buy ready to change up his game when Rain saw her chance. “Alright, Houndour! Time to show him a real fire, charge in with an Ember and end with a Fire Fang!” she ordered and grinned as the Houndour would respond with a bark of confirmation. Before the wild dragon could get his next attack complete, Rain’s houndour would unleash a significantly powered up Ember attack as she charged head first at the Bagon. Once close enough, the fire attack would be changed out for a bite from the houndour’s powerful jaws, fangs set aflame. The Bagon weakly struggled in the Houndour’s grasp before Rain signaled for the Houndour to let go. The Bagon would be pretty much dropped to the ground and the hell hound would trot back over to Rain who was already making her way over to inspect the extent of the damage on both Houndour and the Bagon.
Even with the resistance to the Houndour’s flame attacks, the Bagon’s own stubborn insistence of the Ember attack had helped power up the Houndour’s fires thanks to her Flash Fire ability. Rain sighed at the stubborn creature she’d come across, before smiling slightly and uttering an apology. Seeing none of the damage was too extensive, Rain merely moved along with the process and tossed the Safari Ball gently at the Pokémon. The Bagon would vanish inside and the ball would drop to the ground in which it became its battle to tame the beast.

The Professor watched as Rain captured herself a Bagon. It was interesting to see how other Trainers went about capturing Pokemon, and as a Professor, he felt somewhat bound to help others become better Trainers, Coordinators, Breeders, or whatever they may be. He was somewhat surprised at her choice of Pokemon - Fire-Types were not very effective against Dragon-Types. But her strategy played out, surprising the Professor with the exemplar use of Flash Fire. Even a Dragon-Type couldn't take such attacks easily. After the Safari Ball clicked, the Professor nodded in an impressed manner, clapping softly as he handed Lorraine her bag.
"Very well done, Miss Lorraine! An incredible usage of a Pokemon's ability and moves in order to overcome a type-disadvantage. It doesn't surprise me that Professor Io chose you as her assistant: you have the makings of a great Trainer." He complimented, before adding "And your Houndour seems so very well trained. A very excellent fight, Houndour."
And with that, he began exploring once more, knowing full well that he himself still had a Pokemon to catch. As they moved, water became more prevalent, yet still the land was traversible. He knew that the species that would now be found would be much different than the creatures of the fields. He wondered, in the back of his mind, whatever he could find. While a Ditto still seemed like such a viable and wonderful option, his mind turned to his life's works: Fossils. He was still missing some species of Fossils for his personal collection, and it would be beneficial if he could capture them, not only for his work and his studies, but for his love of all Fossils. His face smiled softly, as the hopes of new additions to his personal team grew.
"Aaanorith!" suddenly cried out a Pokemon. The Professor recognized the cry immediately - with quick reflexes, his eyes turned to the source of the sound. From the water came out an Anorith, the Old Shrimp Pokemon, and one of the species that he was missing from his collection. The Fossil Pokemon seemed curious as to the humans that had wandered near its home. The Fossil Professor's eyes lit with excitement, as he looked over the features of the Pokemon. So many thoughts circled in his head, whizzing by with glee as he blurbed out:
"Look, Miss Hasan, an Anorith! Oh, look how cute he is, just look at those eyes! Did you know that even though Anorith lives in the sea, it isn't a Water-Type at all?"
The Professor knelt down, consumed by the passion of his work. He quickly produced a Poke Ball and opened it softly, releasing Mandragora, his Cradily. The wild Pokemon's eyes went wide with recognition as it saw a species that it knew. Mandragora, on turn, waved with her petal-tentacles politely, happy to see another Fossil.
"Hello, Anorith! My name is Arthur Symphonia. These are Mandragora, my Cradily, and Lorraine Hasan, a friend and colleague of mine. Come, you can approach us, we won't hurt you or your home." Cooed the Professor, extending a hand out for the Fossil Pokemon to take as a sign of peace. His eyes were brilliant with excitement and amiability, their normally faded-sapphire hue now polished and cut. The wild Pokemon hesitated at first, surprised that humans would be so friendly, let alone at the sight of a human. But Mandragora nodded her head, like the mom she is and encouraged the wild Pokemon to come closer.
The Anorith's wide eyes looked over the visitors carefully, before moving an inch closer, bit by bit, until it was near Arthur's hand. The Professor smiled and gently began to pet the Fossil Pokemon, knowing where and how the species liked to be petted. The wild Pokemon purred, as the kind human seemed so nice~! The Anorith's little wing-like fins flapped with delight. The Anorith then approached Mandragora, and the two Fossils began to partake in conversation.
The Professor watched, completely absorbed in fascination. He had to capture this Pokemon, he had to! Anorith was a hard species to come by in Fossil study, and while the Professor knew much of what had been discovered, the possibilities for further information were incredible. And look at it's eyes! He knew all Fossil pre-evolved forms were somewhat cute or endearing, but look at it! And so friendly! He looked to Lorraine, his face bright with happiness. "I think I found my Pokemon for this Safari, Miss Lorraine!"
Turning his attention back to the Fossil Pokemon, the Professor approached it once more. The wild Pokemon seemed comfortable with the visitor's presence. "Excuse me, Anorith, can I ask you a very important question?"
"Aaano?"
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come back home to my Laboratory with me and Mandragora. I have many other Pokemon that you could be friends with, and I would really love to add you to my family."
The Wild Pokemon was taken aback a little by the sudden request. I mean, this guy seemed super nice, his Pokemon talked him up a lot, he seemed to have an awesome place for Anorith to live, but to leave his home...
"We have a lot of Lum Berries!" Added the Professor, knowing Lum was a species favorite for Anorith. The Old Shrimp Pokemon perked up and quickly nodded, moving with glee tot he Fossil Professor. Arthur reached into his bag and pulled out the empty Safari Ball, offering it to the Anorith, who poked it curiously with one of its claws. The capsule opened and absorbed the Pokemon with a flash of light. Hopefully, the Pokemon wouldn't change its mind.
